Job Duties

The position will be the primary contact for VMI Baseball and other assigned programs while assisting with Creative Content efforts to include the production of graphics and digital content. This position will play a role in the strategic vision of Virginia Military Institute by uniquely telling the stories of the cadet-athletes, coaches and staff. This position will work under the direction of the Associate Athletic Director for External Operations, with assistance from the Director of Multimedia to generate content for social media and releases.
Job Duties:
Serve as the primary communications contact for designated sports.
Create and produce engaging and sharable content, such as graphics, photography, short videos and other pieces for VMI Athletics' social channels.
Serve as the liaison between the public, media, and athletic programs, and gameday media operations.
Work in conjunction with the Associate AD and Director of Multimedia on graphics and Creative Content concepts.
Help with the coordination and implementation of the department's social media plan and strategy.
Knowledge of stat programs and updating statistics.
Create publications (e.g., game programs, flip cards, media guides, etc.), write/research notes, recaps, feature stories.
Travel to select away events.
Work with marketing and video staffs on providing content for social accounts.
Pitch and solicit stories while building relationships with local, regional, and national media including print, radio, TV, and internet media representatives.
Conduct interviews as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree required.
Ability to multi-task, plan, organize, and execute day-to-day operations; work under deadlines and maintain a detail-oriented and highly confidential approach.
Ability to prioritize and delegate the flow of work.
Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere).
Ability to take initiative in organizing programs, planning events, preparing materials, and interacting effectively with members of the athletic department and the post.
Experience with Stat Crew/NCAA Genius/Presto stat systems.
Strong knowledge of social media platforms.

Additional Considerations

Minimum of one to two years of sports communications or Creative Content experience at the collegiate or professional level.
