The Assistant Director of Alumni Relations is a vital addition to the Institutional Advancement team, responsible for supporting Alumni Relations, annual fund campaigns, and donor relations initiatives. This role will work closely with the Director of Alumni Relations to strengthen alumni engagement and foster a culture of giving. While experience in this field is not mandatory, a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and the ability to collaborate effectively with the team are essential.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Alumni Engagement:

  • Assist in planning and executing alumni events, reunions, and other engagement activities to strengthen alumni connections with the university.
  • Help create and maintain communication channels to inform alumni about university updates and events. Communication formats: print, email, and social media platforms.
  • Assist with maintaining alumni information on the Indiana Tech website.
  • Attend alumni meetings and events and present short updates.

Annual Fund Support:

  • With guidance, create and compose annual fund campaign material.
  • Engage with alumni and donors to encourage their participation in annual giving efforts.

Donor Relations:

  • Assist in donor stewardship efforts by recognizing and expressing appreciation to donors.

Alumni Data Management:

  • Work within the alumni database to ensure accurate and up-to-date alumni records.
  • Utilize database systems to track alumni engagement and giving history.

Prospect Research:

  • Assist in identifying potential major gift prospects based on interactions with alumni.
  • Research alumni backgrounds and interests to tailor engagement strategies.

Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • Strong alignment with the philosophy and mission/values of Indiana Tech.
  • 3-5 years of work experience in any field.
  • While experience in Alumni Relations and fundraising is beneficial, it is not mandatory, and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Energetic, coachable, and a positive attitude.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable at public events and making announcements to groups.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Preference for candidates who are alumni of Indiana Tech.

Working Conditions

Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Work may be required during non-traditional office hours and weekends for events. Travel may be required. Must be able to push, pull, and lift to 25 pounds and be able to stand for long periods.
