Occupational Summary:
The Assistant Director of Admissions is a creative and knowledgeable professional who works collaboratively with the Admissions staff to assist in planning, development and implementation of the recruitment and admissions programs. The Assistant Director is knowledgeable about Newman programs and services and serves as a positive representative of Newman at college fairs, high school visits, community programs, interviews, on-campus events, and daily campus visits. This position is also responsible for successful achievement of recruitment goals for prospective students within an assigned territory; has a strong commitment to, and enthusiasm for the university and its mission; a sincere interest in working with prospective students and their families which includes offering a personalized, enthusiastic and comprehensive service through the recruiting process. The Assistant Director of Admissions provides leadership to peers through conduct, attitude and professionalism and must understand the university's policies and procedures and exercise judgment accordingly.

Work Performed:
  1. Contributes to the success of the Office of Admissions by assisting the Dean of Admissions and the Senior Associate Director of Admissions in all aspects relating to the recruitment cycle and admissions processes.
  2. Manages all off-campus travel by organizing, scheduling, and training the Admissions Counselors for Fall and Spring travel.
  3. Assists and leads in the supervision and training of the Admissions Counselors.
  4. Coordinates and schedules all campus visits, which includes communication with prospective students, and cross-functional members of the Newman community as needed Coordinates and schedules all campus visits, which includes communication with prospective students, and cross-functional members of the Newman community as needed.
  5. Demonstrates and contributes to a work environment and culture that encourages knowledge, development, which is consistent with the university's mission and values.
  6. Works collaboratively with the Newman community and serves as liaison to other offices on campus such as academic affairs, financial aid, student affairs, athletics, registrar, university relations, and alumni offices.
  7. Develop relationships within an assigned territory, which includes high schools, colleges, and community partners.
  8. Maintain relationships with prospective students through constant communications, including social media.
  9. Attends local fairs, college nights, community events, national events, and wherever needed (requires nights and weekends).
  10. Work with academic and athletic programs to assist in the recruitment of student athletes.
  11. Assists in developing individual and team goals and strategies.
  12. Analyzes and identifies optimal recruiting targets.
  13. Assists with programs, events, etc. to remain a competitive force within higher education.
  14. Assists in the marketing of the university through collaborative efforts with the Dean of Students, Senior Associate Director of Admissions, and the Digital Marketing Manager.
  15. Contribute to the overall success of the department by performing all other duties as assigned and appropriate to the position.

Required Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills/Training:
  1. A Bachelor's degree.
  2. 3-5 years of experience in higher education Admissions
  3. Perform mostly complex tasks with some decision making.
  4. Up to 50% travel time, which may include overnight.
  5. Ability to speak publicly in front of others.
  6. Fluent in social media platforms.
  7. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population of parents, teenagers, and older adults, including upset and/or difficult customers.
  8. Ability to work in a fast-paced office setting and handle frequent interruptions.
  9. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  10. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possess a clean driving record.
  11. Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet manner.
  12. Prior experience working with a customer relationship management system (CRM), is a plus.
  13. Must be available to work nights and weekends.
  14. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  15. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
