Description
Responsibilities:
- Provide financial leadership and comprehensive accounting, financial and budget information for long term strategizing for Training and Employment Funds (TEF) Reporting Groups (including regions and special grants/contracts reporting) and Child Care Funds (CCF) groups
- Oversee the preparation and coordination of all Funds' external audits as well as all tax filings (Internal Revenue Service (IRS), state and local Department of Labor (DOL)) as Plan Sponsor for each of the Taft Hartley Funds
- Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements (including balance sheets, statements of activities, cash flows and trend and variance reporting analyses with variance explanations for TEF Funds/Regions/Sub-Groups and CCF entities that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
- Develop and facilitate seamless accounting, reporting, analysis, budgeting, and cash flow projections; Responsible for leading these processes for all reporting groups among budget, program and accounting staff ensuring timely and accurate reports by a fully integrated finance staff with excellent knowledge of finance, operations, and programs
- Lead organizational development of all functions ensuring training, coaching, reviewing, and supervising the staff to meet deadlines in the most efficient and seamless manner; Develop financial professionals to produce timely and accurate financial statements, reports, analyses and budgets and cash flow projections with fully integrated financial reporting
- Develop detailed action plans that target meeting objectives of accurate and timely accounting, reporting, analysis, budgets, and cash flow projections
- Ensure that all grant expenditures are reported timely and accurately to Regulatory Agencies and assist in state grant audits
- Develop metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)s to track Funds performance and inform management of these key indicators for decision making
- Ensure that monthly reconciliation between accounting system, STAR, QUEST, and other external systems are reconciled monthly
- Ensure that the Funds and 501c3 organizations are in compliance with all regulations and adhering to all applicable laws and regulations for the proper segregation of funds; leading timely preparation of all external audits, financial statements, financial budgets and forecasts in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and reviewing, all applicable returns, and external filings such as IRS 990 Forms and 5500 returns
- Assist with ad-hoc projects as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required: Current CPA certification, MBA or other advanced degree preferred
- Minimum six (6) years financial management experience complemented by controller, reporting and analysis, planning, accounting, and management skills in a complex not-for-profit with significant scale required: four (4) years supervisory experience of exempt and non-exempt personnel required
- Knowledge of Financial Planning and Reporting systems used in complex not-for-profit environments
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP; external reporting with knowledge of IRS, DOL and other governmental requirements as they relate to Taft Hartley and not-for-profit organizations
- Knowledge of Taft Hartley Plans highly preferred
- Advanced skill level in Microsoft Excel, Word, Accounting, Financial and Budgeting Software Strong management, supervisory and communication skills; excellent critical thinking and analytical capabilities
- Superb analytical skills with ability to provide solutions and develop alternatives
- Demonstrated organizational skills with ability to manage complexity, multi-task and meet operational deadlines
- Ability to manage projects, work well under pressure, maintain professional manner and presentation
