Millennium Post Acute is looking to add a Dietary Assistant to our amazing team. Our expectation is that you will perform your job in a manner consistent with our Core Values

To help assist Dietary Manager in directing the operation of the Dietary Department in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing the facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator and Dietitian. To help assure that quality nutritional services are provided on a daily basis and that the dietary department is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner. The position may be classified as hourly (non exempt) and or salaried (exempt) based on experience, education and certifications.

- Capable of carrying out the duties of a Cook or Dietary Aide if need to fill a position or assist when needed.

- Print tray cards daily and weekend package with week at a glance, spreadsheet, temp sheets, nourishment sheet and cook’s closing checklist.

- Inspect nourishment rooms on hallway, storage room, reach-in coolers, walk-in cooler and freezer in main kitchen area.

- Post daily, weekly and monthly cleaning sheets and ensures cleaning duties are carried out.

- Several times a week complete a walk-through inspection of entire kitchen.

- Make biweekly partner schedule with the discretion of Dietary Manager.

- Make sure temperature sheets are fill out (dish machine, three compartment sink, refrigerators, freezer, nourishment room, and food log).

- Help inventory food. In the absence of Dietary Manager order food.

- Enter invoices on spenddown sheet in computer.

- Assist with checking food in on delivery days and putting up stock.

- Assist with hiring potential applicants.

- Assist with training new hires.

- Assist getting residents food preference and entering diets/ preference in computer.

- Assures all Dietary staff complete required compliance training and processes.

- Help coordinate Dietary Services and activity with other related departments (i.e., Nursing, Housekeeping, Social Service, etc.)

- Participate in facility surveys (inspection) made by authorized government agencies.

- Attend residents care plan in the absence of Dietary Manager.

- Performs other duties as may be needed or assigned.

- Must possess, as a minimum, a high diploma.

- Must have, as a minimum, 1 year experience in a supervisory capacity in hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or other related medical facility.

- Must have training in inventory, ordering food and diet therapy.

- Prefer perspective candidate to be manager serv-safe and or willing to obtain after 6 months of hire.

- Must provide evidence of being free of tuberculosis infection upon hire and as set forth by the policies of the facility.

- Must be able to read, write speak and understand English language.

- Must possess the ability to make independent decision when circumstances warrant such action.

- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/ personnel and the general public.

- Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.

- Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult situations, staff and residents.

- Work in extreme hot and cold temperatures in kitchen.

- Work in the kitchen as well as in diet office, and throughout the activity area (i.e. activity room, resident rooms, etc.)

- Interacts with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/ personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.

- Is Subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.

- Communicates with the medical staff, activity personnel, and other department supervisors.

- Maybe require working

- beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary. May be on call 24 hours per day, 7 days week.

- Is subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).

- Is subject to injury from falls, burn equipment, odors, etc., as well as to reactions from dust, disinfections, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.

- Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.

- May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.

- Must be able to cope with the mental emotional and stress of the position

- Must possess sight/ hearing senses or use prosthetics that enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.

- Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively.

- Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility which may include a medical and physical examination.

- Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times hostile people within the facility.

- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Frequent carrying of dietary supplies. Requires frequent pushing and pulling of carts.

- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
