Assistant Construction Superintendent

Position: Assistant Construction Superintendent
Reports to: Project Executive

The Assistant Construction Superintendent's responsibility includes working together with the Project Superintendent for the overall day-to-day supervision of field related construction activities for multi-family construction projects in the Washington, DC area. The Assistant Construction Superintendent is responsible for managing the project field activities and subcontractors.
Responsibilities

• Support the Project Superintendent to help organize all construction activity.
• Mange project safety and labor manpower
• Ensure that all projects are performed in accordance with contractual and quality standards
• Schedule and manage the daily activities of work and take necessary action to ensure that the project objectives of cleanliness, safety, price, schedule, quality and process are met
• Maintain daily project documentation such as timecards, field reports, schedule updates and E-mail correspondence to keep the various people involved with the project informed of important issues
• Implement incremental project schedules that make sure upcoming events are on track and are being proactively attended to
• Conduct and/or attend subcontractor progress and toolbox meetings
• Facilitate the management of subcontractors and the construction process
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Superintendent

Qualifications

• College degree preferred though 3-4 years' experience in commercial residential construction will be accepted in place of degree
• Experience in managing subcontractors, vendors, and carpenters
• Working knowledge of software used in the construction industry as well as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook; working knowledge of Procore or Prolog and MS Project, preferred
• Working knowledge of Primavera P6, preferred
• Understanding of the means and methods of construction associated with the build and/or renovation of multi-family residential buildings
• Goal oriented, deadline driven, and can react quickly to challenging circumstances to achieve the desired end results
• Able to proactively create plans and addresses problems promptly
• Demonstrated ability to manage subcontractors and craft people
• Proactive, looks for problems that could impede progress
• Highly entrepreneurial with the ability to work effectively with/limited supervision
• Solid team player that is always looking for ways to improves processes
