JOB DESCRIPTION
Penrose Brewing is a growing production brewery located in Geneva, Illinois, a Western suburb of Chicago. The ideal Packaging Brewer is mechanically inclined, able to work in a clean and organized fashion and willing to be a contributing member our Team.
This is a Full-time position (40 hrs / week). Compensation will be dependent upon experience. Health Insurance, accrued Paid Time Off and Holidays are included.

QUALIFICATIONS
- An understanding of the brewing, finishing and packaging processes of beer
- Consideration will be given to candidates with Brewery production experience
- Canning line operation experience a plus
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be able to lift 35 lb. cases of beer, 44 lb. boxes of hops, 55 lb. sacks of grain, and move 165 lb. kegs of beer
- Be able to operate packaging equipment for extended periods of time while wearing appropriate PPE

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The packaging stage in a brewery is one of the most crucial pieces of ensuring a beer’s quality as it reaches the drinker. This position is responsible for performing any and all aspects of packaging our beer in its final container.
SAFETY MANAGEMENT
- Ensuring the safety of all Penrose team members and patrons throughout the facility
- Wear proper PPE at all times
SOPs
- Follow all written and verbal SOPs and work towards improving every brewery action across the team
SANITATION
- Monitor and maintain sanitation practices throughout the brewery
- Work in a clean and organized fashion
CIP/TRANSFER
- Perform CIP of Brite Beer Tank according to SOPs
- Transfer beer to Brite Beer Tank utilizing sanitary and low oxygen techniques.
FINISHING OPERATIONS
- Measure CO2 in finished beer and add carbonation to desired level as required by recipes
- Monitor taste standards of finished beer and be able to identify potential off flavors and contributing factors
KEGGING
- Monitor operation of Keg Washer and troubleshoot any operational issues
- Ensure proper filling of kegs as well as taste compliance of beer going in
PACKAGING LINES
- Efficiently operate canning line through depalletization, date coding, filling, seaming, labeling, and packing off
- Deeply understand the double seaming process
- Maintain seam quality through measurement, inspection, tear down, and seamer adjustments
- Keep detailed records of packaging quantities and quality measurements
- Participate in wild beer bottling utilizing manual fillers, cappers and corkers
- Create PM procedures and follow them for Packaging and Utility equipment
- Maintain inventory levels of canning supplies
- Maintain Quality Lab Samples
SHIPPING
- Stage shipments based on BOLs and load trucks
- Unload shipments and put away in appropriate places
- Operate a Forklift in a controlled and safe manner
UTILITIES AND MAINTENANCE
- Maintain daily, weekly and monthly upkeep on Boiler, Air Compressors, Glycol Chillers, Cooler Condensing Units etc
- Be able to identify when equipment is not running correctly, source the root cause and track down solutions to fix
