Assistant Beet Seed Foreman

The Assistant Beet Seed Foreman position coordinates the activities ofthe Beet Seed crew to complete the daily Beet Seed processing production plan. They provide workdirection and act as a working team leader supervising and motivating the Beet Seed processingcrew.
Principle accountabilities include but are not limited to:

• 
  Under the direction of the Beet Seed Foreman, the Assistant Foreman will organize and record allactivities in the Beet Seed Warehouse. Written reports will include the location of all seed invarious stages of preparation.
  
• 
  Under the direction of the Beet Seed Foreman and Beet Seed Processing Supervisor, the AssistantForeman will accurately prepare shipments of seed for Crystal Beet Seed Sale Agents. Thisincludes correct variety, lot, size, and treatment of seed.
  
• 
  Prepares a written receiving and shipping notice for all seed movements.
  
• 
  In the absence of the Beet Seed Foreman Electronically generate Beet Seed processing reports andcompletes monthly inventory reports.
  
• 
  Mathematically calculates recovery and losses for individual seed lots as they are processed.
  
• 
  Maintains and repairs Beet Seed processing equipment as needed.
  
• 
  Operates an electric forklift and hand pallet jack, may lift pallets or tote boxes up to 2,500 pounds.
  
• 
  Packages seed in 25 to 40 pound packages and applies the proper labels.
  
• 
  Operates a shrink wrap machine to secure seed container on shipping pallet.
  
• 
  Takes Beet Seed samples and conducts on-line processing quality control checks.
  
• 
  Performs other duties as assigned (which may include assisting as needed with seed deliveries)
  
• 
  Required to work overtime as needed.
  

Job Requirements:

• 
  High School diploma or a GED certificate is required.
  
• 
  Individuals are required to take a Basic Skills Test to verify basic skills and knowledge including a Mechanical Aptitude Test
  
• 
  Able to read, write and communicate effectively.
  
• 
  Able to perform basic math calculations with a high degree of accuracy and able to verify accuracyof calculations. An attitude of care with an attention to detail to ensure accuracy of work is required.
  
• 
  Basic computer skills to include, but not limited to Excel and Outlook.
  
• 
  Must be able to maintain and reconcile inventory records.
  
• 
  Mechanical aptitude, able to understand and use Beet Seed processing principles and procedures.
  
• 
  Able to be certified to safely operate and maintain an electric forklift and electric hand pallet jack.
  
• 
  Must be able to provide work direction and act as a working team leader.
  
• 
  Must be able to reference, read and understand how to use MSDS information.
  
• 
  CDL license preferred and may be awarded contingent on obtaining a CDL permit and the CDLwithin 6 months of the contingent job award.
  
• 
  Current and satisfactory DOT physical examination certification (DOT health card) is requiredwithin 10 days of the contingent job award. Must be able to recertify health card and meet all DOTrequirements including random drug testing.
