Role Summary
JPMIM's Infrastructure Investment Fund ("IIF") identifies, analyzes, acquires and manages infrastructure and infrastructure-related assets located generally in member countries of the Organizations for Economic Co-Operation and Development ("OECD"). IIF also assesses capital markets and controls investment risk in determining the optimal financing, diversification and disposition strategies for the managed assets.
The Tax Group of IIF seeks an Associate with extensive experience in real estate/infrastructure taxation to assist with all tax aspects of its direct and indirect infrastructure investments.
Job Responsibilities
- Understanding of tax matters related to the establishment of funds, feeder entities, holding companies, etc.
- Maintain control logs of tax data for fund entities.
- Responsible for Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), Common Reporting Standard (CRS), Country by Country (CbC) reporting requirements and implementation for the Fund.
- Coordinate with service providers to review and validate investor CRS & W-8/W-9 forms and maintain database of investor tax documentation.
- Monitor US federal, state and local and non-US jurisdiction income tax filing requirements of Fund entities.
- Prepare FAS 109 provisions and assist in preparation of FIN 48 memo.
- Coordinate with product specialist to review and maintain database of investor information for K-1, 1042-S, and other tax reporting distribution.
- Review quarterly and annual withholding tax filings (foreign, US federal, state and local) and review externally prepared foreign, US federal, state, and local tax filings.
- Coordinate and review annual 1099 filings
- Respond to notices from foreign, US Federal, State and local tax authorities.
- Respond to investor tax requests.
- Coordinate with portfolio company teams to gather information necessary to complete tax analyses and filings for Fund entities.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- 4-6 years of experience required with experience in one or more of the following industries: Real Estate/Infrastructure/Private Equity
- Strong working knowledge of taxation of corporations and partnerships. Understanding of issues around FDAP, ECI and UBTI.
- Experience with tax implications of International funds and working knowledge/experience with tax provisions for funds
- Understanding of investor tax positions and considerations in other countries.
- Ability to research and resolve various tax reporting and structuring issues.
- Extensive understanding of withholding requirements and FBAR reporting.
- Technical Systems: RIA, CCH, BNA, and Microsoft Office.
