Job Summary
As a Liquid Alternatives Oversight Associate within J.P. Morgan Alternative Asset Management's Hedge Fund & Alternative Credit Solutions team, you will be responsible for assisting senior team members in daily portfolio oversight for numerous liquid alternative funds. Additionally, you will contribute to various transformation initiatives as an team member contributor.
Job Responsibilities
- Produce daily management reporting including evaluating the results in the context of the control environment, portfolio management objectives and investment & regulatory guidelines.
- Prepare Liquid Alts portfolio management monthly reporting for internal stakeholders and fund deal books.
- Create monthly performance comparisons and develop & maintain analysis versus reference hedge funds & indices.
- Ongoing & ad hoc reporting for the Managed Account Solutions business.
- Coordinate the delivery of fund & sub-advisory oversight related activities including material preparation and regulatory reporting.
- Assist with the management of regulatory exams, controls testing and internal audits.
- Provide technical & project management support with new fund launches, sub-advisor onboardings, and counterparties.
- Participate in technology initiatives including the reengineering of legacy processes, implementing new technology, etc. as well as proactively identifying opportunities for new automation and efficiencies.
- Act as a central point of contact for requests, issue resolution, etc. for the Portfolio Management Group, third-party sub-advisors, and fund service providers.
- Monitor investment & regulatory guidelines and escalate & resolve related issues as needed. The responsibility will include both daily Liquid Alternatives as well as the monthly JPMAAM fund-of-funds platform.
- Perform the ongoing maintenance of ESG exclusion lists as well as assist with the build out of carbon measurement tools and oversee the daily cash and collateral management processes.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, or Finance.
- 2+ years of financial services experience ideally working with hedge funds and or mutual funds.
- A good understanding of daily NAV funds and related service provider functions including custody, prime brokerage, and fund accounting.
- General familiarity of equity and fixed income asset classes as well as derivatives including forex, total return swaps, futures, and options. Related to this knowledge base, a thorough understanding of the lifecycle of a trade is important.
- Intermediate level knowledge and hands-on working experience with scripting languages & data analysis tools including Python, VBA, and Tableau.
- Excellent communication & negotiation skills, both written and oral, including the ability to interact with all levels of an organization.
- Ability to work independently as well within a team dynamic.
- Ability to assess current processes & the overall control environment, identify areas of improvement, and use knowledge of technology to implement practical solutions.
