Job Summary:

Asset Curation Specialist

Disney Music Group is home to Walt Disney Records, Hollywood Records, Disney Concerts, Disney Music Publishing and Buena Vista Records. DMG is home to soundtracks of the biggest movies and TV shows in the world, including “Frozen,” “The Lion King,” “Aladdin,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” the “Star Wars” franchise, “Avengers: Endgame,” “Black Panther,” “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Black Widow,” “Cruella,” “Soul,” “Free Guy,” “Loki,” “The Mandalorian,” “This Is Us,” “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” “Zombies,” the “Descendants” franchise, “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” and the upcoming film soundtracks “Eternals,” “Encanto” and “West Side Story.”

The artist roster includes Andy Grammer, AREA21, Queen, almost monday, DCappella, Joywave, Breaking Benjamin, Sofia Carson, DREAMERS, TINI, Daisy The Great, Olivia Holt, The Undefeated, New Hope Club,  Temecula Road, Laine Hardy and CB30.  

Responsibilities

  • Manage the curation and archival of audio, video and visual assets, in digital and physical form

  • Conduct quality control, data normalization and cleansing to include manual data clean-up as needed

  • Asset curation process manual authoring and revision

  • Miscellaneous asset related requests such as recommendation of methods and best practices to digitally preserve assets and MP3 servicing

  • Maintain and support DMG’s digital asset database, its information and its users, ensuring data integrity and providing direction and guidance where needed

  • Train and assist users in upload, search and research

  • Ability to communicate business needs to IT and suggest DAM modifications/improvements

  • Spearhead and project manage Asset Curation projects as needed

  • Establish correlations between various repertoire systems and DAM system, to include controlled vocabulary

  • Oversee creative metadata across the music group to include tagging, projects and system training with various departments as it relates to music product

  • Establish and build upon current Standards of Practice as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience

  • Strong database usage and ability to understand data structures

  • Strong cataloging and description background

  • Strong understanding of metadata standards and experience with nomenclature and taxonomy standards for databases

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, very customer and service focused

  • Attention to detail, problem solving and accuracy is critical

  • Energetic, efficient, excellent time-managements skills; this is a faced paced, continually evolving environment

  • Bachelor’s degree in Library and/or Information Science or similar field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Music, Media, and the Entertainment Industry


The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $59,925 - $77,550 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
