Job description

JOB title: ASSEMBLY/SHIPPING/RECEIVING

REPORTS TO: SHOP FOREMAN

Job Classification: NON-EXEMPT

Job Status: Full Time


JOB Purpose:

The Assembly/Shipping/Receiving position will support the Metal’s fabrication division to ensure that all customer orders are received, processed, and shipped on time. The position is responsible for checking work orders to customer specifications and identifying any defects prior to shipment.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform assembly and sub-assembly of aerospace parts: sheet metal fabricated parts, high-precision machined parts, kits, and bench top assemblies.
  • Precision drilling using a drill press to drill the parts together. Deburring and anodizing the holes, riveting the holes drilled, then to finish up we torque bolts with washers to the part.
  • Assembling a wide variety of aircraft parts per customer specifications, blueprints, and job orders. This involves.
  • Riveting, fastener installation, bushing installation, and sealant application. Proficient with height gauges, calipers- both digital and dial.
  • Blueprints, Manufacturing Orders, Inventory, Parts Assembly, Drilling, Bonding, Proof loading.
  • Riveting, Swagging, installing shims on parts, fillet sealing bushings, installing rub pads, pressing bushings with liquid nitrogen, mixing sealant, electrical bonding, and electro edging.
  • Receiving incoming raw materials, inventory management and quality control.
  • Package finished products and prepare them for shipment.
  • Perform quality checks on products and parts.
  • Review work orders and blueprints to ensure work is performed according to specifications.
  • Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy.
  • Pack, seal, and label to prepare materials for shipping.
  • Effectively communicate damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications to supervisor and/or machinist to rectify issues prior to shipment.
  • Maintain a clean work environment.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Other duties as assigned.


KnowLedge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience drilling and preparing close tolerance holes for structural assembly and fastener installation.
  • Extensive use of hand tools, both electric and air, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, drills and rivet tools.
  • Forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Blueprint and GD&T.
  • Ability to document and maintain accurate records to ensure strict procedural compliance per customer orders.
  • Effective communication:
    • Able to read write and speak English.
    • Able to keep accurate quality records.
    • Able to perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Team oriented.
  • Efficient and action driven.
  • Motivated self-starter.
  • Dependable with reliable attendance.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Aerospace Industry experience desired
