The internship program at Volkswagen Group of America Chattanooga Operations is intended to provide college / university students and recent graduates the opportunity to use and develop skills they have learned in the classroom by working at our state-of-the-art production facility, and to provide experience and insight into the culture.
Summary
Our internships are full-time positions (40 hours/week). Candidates will be expected to be available to work during normal business hours (Monday - Friday; exact hours will vary by position and some positions might require work on Saturdays). To be eligible for the internship program, candidates are required to be enrolled at an accredited post-secondary educational institution or have graduated from one within the 6 months prior to the start date of the internship. Candidates who do not meet our guideline will not be considered. This position will start in January and end in May 2024, with a chance for extension through August 2024. Applications for later terms will not be accepted at this time.
Responsibilities
Internship position for the Assembly department, specifically Assembly Maintenance. Members of the Assembly Maintenance team are responsible for ensuring that machinery, tools, and electronic recording stations associated with the Assembly line are functioning optimally. They are also responsible for physical line changes occurring. As a member of the Assembly Maintenance, the intern will help support other members as needed in addition to completing an intern specific project. The intern will:

  • Take ownership for a specific project that can be completed during the internship
  • Participate in plant and department meetings
  • Prepare and coordinate various reports, presentations, and documents within the department
  • Collect and analyze data regarding assembly line efficiency
  • Create and maintain Access database systems for Maintenance team
  • Support Maintenance team

Qualifications
Education
Required: 2+ years towards a degree in Engineering or Similar Field.
Skills
Required:
  • Problem solving skills, root cause analysis for problem solving
  • Strong emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite software
  • Communication skills, both interpersonal and written

Preferred:
  • Programming experience
  • Database creation/management experience
