Job Title: Assembly (Level I – Level III)
Reports To: Assembly Supervisor
Job Type: Full-Time / Non- Exempt
Birdon America is a large Government/Commercial contractor of Marine vessels. We design, manufacture and service systems, components and provide integrated solutions for commercial and military workboats, water jet propulsion and other platforms.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Produces components by assembling parts and subassemblies.
- Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists, gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
- Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies.
- Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
All Levels
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum one (1) year experience in a mechanical assembly environment or demonstrated basic proficiency in assembling procedures.
- Certified to a moderate level of skill and knowledge to ensure compliance to standards and specifications.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Good communication skills both verbal and written.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination.
Level I
- Minimum, one (1) year experience in a mechanical assembly environment or demonstrated basic proficiency in assembling procedures.
Level II
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a mechanical assembly environment or demonstrated intermediate proficiency in assembling procedures.
- Advanced mechanical skill.
Level III
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a mechanical assembly environment or demonstrated advanced proficiency in assembling procedures.
- Advanced mechanical skill.
Working Conditions
- Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment where exposure to moving mechanical parts, sharp cutting tools, dust, fumes and airborne particles, temperature extremes and elevated noise level.
- Employees must regularly lift and or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and or move more than 75 pounds.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, talk and hear.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protection and work boots.

The levels of this position are differentiated by increasing degrees of responsibilities, years of experience, professional skills, and quality of work. The level in which you qualify will be determined upon interview evaluation. Hourly pay rates are fixed.
Hourly Pay Rates
Level I: $25.36 /hr
Level II: $27.13 /hr
Level III: $28.91 /hr
