GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
The ASPIRE (for Adult Basic Literacy) Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership for implementing (writing, submitting, administrating, closing-out and documenting) the ASPIRE grant that Maplewood Career Center receives, and facilitating all collaborative relationships.
REPORTS TO:
Adult Education Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA (education preferred)
- A desire to work with adults
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Must be willing to maintain the following responsibilities: Curriculum, assessment, instruction, staff management, grant writing, grant implementation, office management, and public relations.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Curriculum and Instruction:?Develop program curriculum ?Implement program ?Provide instructional support and guidance to staff
- Assess students’ needs ?Monitor and evaluate program and implement improvements when needed ?Administer and supervise the operation of classes.
- Personal, Professional, and Student Relations: ?Recruit and select staff members ?Develop staffing plans ?Assist with certifications, professional growth, instructional training, and staff in-service ?Maintain staff records ?Recruit, assess, counsel, guide, and enroll students ?Deals with student conduct behavior ?Maintains students’ records and needs ?Establish contact in the community with business, industry, and community agencies ?Develop printed materials for curriculum, staff development, and program promotion
- Submit articles for publication in local media ?Report progress and accomplishments at the local level ?Submit articles for publication in local media ?Ability to create ideas for promoting program ?Hold face-to-face staff meetings three times a year
- Managerial and Other Duties: ?Write grants ?Determine program budget ?Administer grant according to guidelines ?Complete and submit all reports as required ?Attend meetings and workshops appropriate to program ?Maintain budget, fiscal records, and accountability of program ?Facilitate purchase and inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment ?Develop program operational plan ?Select and purchase ASPIRE/literacy materials ?Provide for security of ASPIRE materials ?The Adult Education Director may assign other duties
