Arts Integration Educator

The Intrepid Museum seeks an Arts Integration Educator versed in the integration of the arts across the disciplines - particularly history and STEM. Candidates must have an arts education background, and be familiar with aesthetic education, STEAM education, project based learning, and designing lessons that foster a creative, iterative and playful approach to content exploration. The Arts Integration Educator will serve as the Education Department’s expert on how to integrate the arts to forward program learning goals, supporting members of the Education Team and other program team members at the Museum. While the Arts Integration Educator may have a strong background in one discipline in creative or performing arts, they must be willing to bring in other art forms as appropriate.

Salary Range: $48,000 - $50,000.

As a part of the Lifelong Learning Team, specific projects currently assigned to this position are:

• Developing and implementing several annual, large Public and Family Programs which incorporate STEAM elements.
• Arts integration support for CASA (Cultural After-School Adventures Program).
• Collaborating with the Access Team to facilitate programs for people with disabilities and their families, such as Stories Within, an arts-based outreach program for individuals living with dementia and their caregivers, as well as specialized and inclusive family programming.
• Researching and developing age-appropriate arts-based experiences, artistic expressions related to exhibits, and experiences aimed at museum-goers of varying ages, nationalities and abilities, for both live and virtual audiences.

Secondary responsibilities include delivery of general programs for the Museum public, K-12 school programs, Access programs for children and adults with disabilities, virtual programs, and other onsite/offsite programming.

Performs other duties as required by management.

Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree. Experience integrating the arts with science, engineering, technology and history content. 1-3 years of arts education experience in school, museum or other educational setting. Able to demonstrable and strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an energetic and collaborative environment. Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as necessary. Bilingual or multilingual a plus
