REPORTS TO: Assistant Vice President of Campus and Conference Programs


CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time/Non-Exempt

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: ~20 seasonal staff


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Strategic Planning:

  • Work with AVP to develop and implement a strategic vision for the arts and humanities department in alignment with the organization's mission and goals.
  • Identify emerging trends and opportunities in the arts and humanities field and make recommendations for program development.

2. Program Development:

  • Plan, organize, and oversee the execution of arts and humanities programs, exhibitions, performances, lectures, and workshops.
  • Oversee and manage the arts and humanities program areas: Squire Studio, Library, and Watercolor.
  • Collaborate with artists, scholars, educators, and staff to curate and produce engaging cultural events.

3. Budget Management:

  • Work with the AVP to develop and manage the department's arts & humanities budget, ensuring responsible allocation of resources.
  • Seek external funding opportunities, grants, and sponsorships to support arts and humanities initiatives.

4. Team Leadership:

  • Recruit, train, and supervise Arts & Humanities staff, including Squire Studios, Watercolor, and String Quartet.
  • Work with team members to develop and update operational manuals for each area.
  • Work with team members to maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Work with team members to maintain of accurate attendance records
  • Foster a collaborative and creative work environment that encourages innovation and excellence

5. Community Engagement:

  • Build and maintain relationships with local and regional arts and cultural organizations, artists, scholars, and community members.
  • Promote the organization's arts and humanities programs to a diverse audience.

6. Educational Initiatives:

  • Develop educational programs that enhance public understanding and appreciation of the arts and humanities.
  • Collaborate with educational institutions to facilitate learning opportunities for students and the public.

7. Curation and Exhibition:

  • Curate and oversee the development of exhibitions, galleries, and artistic installations.
  • Ensure the proper care, conservation, and documentation of artworks.

8. Evaluation and Reporting:

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of arts and humanities programs and initiatives.
  • Prepare regular reports for AVP and VP of Programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field, such as mixed media, studio arts, art history, or arts administration.
  • Proven experience in arts and humanities program management, including budgeting and team leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of the arts and humanities field, including art history, literature, philosophy, or related disciplines.
  • Experience in a diverse range of mediums: painting (watercolor/oil/acrylic/etc), sculpting (clay/wax/carving/etc), silver smith, leather working, stained glass, glass enameling, photography, digital arts, 3D printing, etc.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think creatively, solve problems, and adapt to changing circumstances.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, reaching, and bending.

· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
