Our mission is to invite people into encounters with Beauty and to revitalize the great Catholic tradition of the arts from our location in one of Chicago’s most unique religious, artistic, and civic buildings.
Our performing arts center was built in 1911 as part of St. Alphonsus parish in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago, as a place for the spiritual, physical, and intellectual growth of parishioners and the community. The Center has multiple performance and event spaces, including our 950-seat Historic Main Stage Theatre.

Job Overview:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and organized Artist Booking Agent to prospect and book artists and productions of all Athenaeum Center spaces.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Research and Talent Prospecting
- Research and identify artists and productions that qualify and have viable business potential for our venue
- Research and understand financial, trends, and cultural status of artists
- Research new, up and coming artists, and distribute info to Executive Director
- Serve as key member of the booking team, participate in meetings and discussions, deliver new and exciting ideas on artists, processes, and best practices
- Conduct site tours for artists, agents, and other decision makers
- Strategically seek opportunities to secure revenue generating events/performances that are in line with our non-profit mission
Booking
- Create and prepare deal sheets, offers, and contracts
- Obtain all details and show information from artist representatives and act as communication liaisons between artist and venue
- Build and foster positive relationships with talent agents
- Coordinate with artist and internal staff to setup all announce and on sale dates
- Complete all event advancing, detailing, and show information in internal systems
- Complete and distribute show updates, confirmations, and final event orders to internal staff and partners
- Update and maintain budget changes and any artist information
- Create reports as needed and distribute to management and any other pertinent internal and external stakeholders
- Work with Event Manager and all event department heads to ensure customers are transitioned seamlessly from the sales and booking process to the day of event management
- Complete final financial audit and settlement for event
Administrative
- Execute artist contracts per company guidelines and returns to artist agencies
- Complete artist deposit payments
- Complete artist settlements night of show and post show as needed. Deliver all completed settlement information to financial team
- Manage show files to ensure all essential documents are present prior to day of show. Including but not limited to headliner and support contracts, riders, and W9s.
- Assist with industry and guest ticketing requests and serve as liaison on site as needed
- Complete expense reports and book travel as needed
- Work with Executive Director and Legal Department to keep license and production contracts up to date to industry best practices
Requirements:
The Artist Booking Agent should have the following skills, educations, and experience:
- 3+ years of sales experience
- 2+ years of experience in data analysis
- Ability to work with accounting and financial departments
- Ability to work with legal departments
- Ability to navigate internal booking system for most daily tasks
- Ability to navigate the internet as a communication and research tool
- Professional level of verbal and written communication skills
- Fast learner with a strong work ethic and a high sense of responsibility in an ever-changing environment
- Must be able to handle sensitive matters and exercise excellent judgment
- Ability to work independently and within a team to juggle multiple prioritized tasks
- Experience with contracts a plus
- Detail-oriented with a strong ability to work under pressure to meet strict and fluid deadlines
- Eagerness to support others
- Passionate about live music and/or performing arts
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a sales position
- Prior Customer Support and/or Customer Success experience
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, as needed
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort with making changes on short notice
- Strong proficiency in computer skills, including use of MS Office or Google products
Compensation:
- Pay Rate/Range: $35,000 base + Commission
