POSITION OVERVIEW:

Art Technician is responsible for evaluating customer provided artwork confirming the company ability to print as requested based on machine capabilities.

The successful candidate must be a self-starter who has the ability to manage their time independently, forward thinking, organized, efficient and self-motivated to complete responsibilities in a timely manner without direct instruction. This is a nonexempt position.

The artwork is given to us from our customers and this person will review specifications from the artwork and coordinate details to print accurately on our machines. Please note the artwork is in English to proofread and make recommendations.

The work schedule is 7:30am to 6:00pm with a 30-minute lunch break, Mondays through Thursdays

Temp to perm position.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Reviews customers’ graphics and prepare production materials such as silk screens.

• Knowledgeable about printing guidelines.

• Inspection and preparation of artwork.

• Development of films and screens; accept approvals and print artworks on decal positive films.

• Preparation and documentation of ink formulations.

• Applying the requirements of document control during production for artwork tracing.

• Maintain communications with customer service and marketing team to ensure new artworks from clients are up to printing standards (ex: vector outline).

• Setup up proofs for clients and send them to customer service via email.

• Review and sign work order forms in production.

• Protect materials in their care including handling, packaging, storing and labeling.

• Segregating and controlling items with past-due shelf-life.

• Identify nonconforming product.

• Maintains inventory of materials.

• Completing assigned training.

• Maintain environmental, safety, and cleanliness requirements.

• Follow all safety SOP’s.

• Recommend process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and safety.

• Identify production inefficiencies and report unsafe operations to Supervisor immediately.

• Report any non-compliance of company policies or procedures to the Supervisor.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma required; Associates Degree or higher level of education preferred.

Bilingual in Spanish and English is a must.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

• Firm grasp of traditional and multimedia graphic design, some experience with graphic arts software, artistic skills, and an eye for detail.

• Basic to moderate understanding of Adobe Illustrator and silk screen printing.

• How to do In-RIP Color Separation process.

• Able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.

• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Experience in manufacturing, warehousing, or other related fields.

• Must be reliable, punctual & able to follow instructions.

• Must have a positive work attitude, good communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to work in a team environment.

• Comply with safety protocol.

• Ability to read, speak, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

• Must wear safety shoes, gloves, earplugs, and hairnets when working on the production floor.

 

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

• General office, shop, and warehouse.

• Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled warehouse environment, including hot and cold storage areas.

• Incumbent may stand and/or sit for long periods of time.

• Incumbent may use calculators, computers and other office equipment in the course of normal workday.

• Must be able to lift 30 pounds easily throughout shift.

• Must be able to twist/turn, reach over shoulders and stand/walk on a continual basis.

• Use repetitive motions using upper and lower extremities, mount and dismount equipment.

• Incumbent will be exposed to loud noise levels, mandatory wearing hearing protection provided.

• Stooping, bending, twisting, lifting, pulling, pushing and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
