Responsibilities
The Art Director reports to the USA Health Executive Director of Marketing and Communications; this position is assigned to design projects and is responsible for working with clients and managing each project from concept to completion; the nature of these projects include print and online materials, advertising, videos, brand identity, and logos; the Art Director works with the executive director to determine concept, strategy, and, in some cases, tactical executions; directs, designs, produces, and oversees the printing of various communications, including collaborating with the team on editorial concepts, design concepts, creating of final layout, and assigning and scheduling photographers; collaborates with USA Health offices and staff members to develop, design, and produce publications and printed materials that communicate the activities of USA Health; exercises independent design judgment to ensure that marketing and communications materials include content and communications deemed important by leadership and meet best-practice standards for professional design; reviews logo and color usage for compliance with overall marketing and branding guidelines; works with the executive director to evaluate content, design, and photography of all USA Health marketing and communications to ensure consistent quality and integrity of materials; manages relationships with printers regarding billing, scheduling, and specifications; works directly with vendors on all phases of the process, from bidding to final productions; checks proofs, evaluates color corrections and attends press checks (when appropriate); collaborates with the executive director to develop best practice strategies for creation and design of marketing materials, advertising, print publications, signage, branding materials, and electronic communications; collaborates with the USA Health photographer and videographer, internal staff, and freelance vendors, including designers and photographers; collaborates with vendors, photographers, designers, and other creative services to ensure quality and timely production of all print, advertising, and multimedia materials; reviews and approves proofs of printed copy, art, and other communications and marketing materials developed by staff members; contributes to graphic design implementation ensuring the consistency and quality of organization brand identity; ability to develop/execute sophisticated designs from concept to completion; excellent verbal, presentation, and organizational skills with the ability to manage concurrent projects and work with a variety of clients; proficient with Macintosh computers and Adobe Creative Suite; experience with website design is preferred; knowledge of design principles, techniques, color theory, printing procedures, and understanding of the use of multimedia resources; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and six years of experience in graphic design/visual communication and art direction. Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
