Description:

The Art Activity Specialist will be responsible for designing and implementing the Arts program. The Art Activity Specialist must offer diversified art programming such as fine arts, arts and crafts, and mixed media options. The Art Activity Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the club art room and implementing club-wide art projects.


All staff must understand and implement the mission of Union League Boys & Girls Clubs. All staff must also adhere to Youth Development Professional expectations in enabling all youth and empowering their development, as well as following guidelines for youth behavior. Guidelines for members include being respectful, responsible, caring, being a leader, and showing good character. With this support and guidance we can develop the following skills in our members: good character and citizenship, promote academic success, and encourage healthy lifestyles.


Scope of Authority:

The Art Activity Specialist reports to the Club leadership team, which includes Coordinators and the Club Director.


Responsibilities

  • Executes art program goals designed by the coordinators.
  • Assures members are safe and engaged in activities
  • Encourages emotional, social, and educational growth of individual members
  • Direct supervision of club youth members
  • Follow program design of the coordinators
  • Assists coordinators in assuring all materials for the day are prepared
  • Assures program areas are left cleaned and organized at the end of the day
  • Promote a Safe, and healthy environment, making sure members understand and follow the safety rules of the Club.
  • Other possible responsibilities pertaining to the club include, but are not limited to
  1. Data entry
  2. Staff supervision
  3. Chaperoning field trips
  4. Assisting with special events
Requirements:

Knowledge:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of youth development practices
  • Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics and behavior management.
  • Understanding of the population of youth served.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working or volunteering with children.
  • Good character, integrity and adaptability
  • Enthusiasm, good judgment, patience and self-control
  • Positive example for youth in appearance, attitude and behavior
  • Be adaptable and be flexible to change.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be at least 20 years old.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check, fingerprinting, and drug testing.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of energy.
