Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This position is responsible to ensure projects proceed safely, accurately, and smoothly. The Laborer reports directly to the Foreman then Superintendent and Safety Officer.
- Unload and carry materials at construction sites
- Clean up the site from debris and discarded material
- Ability to mix and Pour Concrete and Asphalt preferred but not mandatory
- Basic knowledge on how to direct and control traffic
- Assist heavy equipment operators to secure special attachments to equipment
- Signal operators to guide them in moving equipment and provide assistance
- Must be willing to complete manual labor
- Operate pneumatic hammers, vibrators, and tampers
- Additional duties may be assigned as necessary
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not mandatory
- Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbal
- Ability to use software base management systems to login in time and attendance as well as pertinent information regarding tools and jobsite equipment
- Committed to safety and attends regular on the job training with Foreman, Superintendent, Project Manager, and Safety Officer
- Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with field and office personnel
- Must be committed to contributing to a culture of safety, looking out for yourself and others
Physical Requirements:
- Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
- Work long shifts
- Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
- Must have good hand-eye coordination, quick reaction times.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs
- Able to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and safety-toed boots.
- Able to walk moderate distances to reach work area up to 1/2 mile
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
- Able to pass a pre-employment background check to work on government project.
