Position Description
Advertised Job Summary The Area Zone Maintenance professional provides skilled planned and corrective cross-functional maintenance and repair services during emergency situations. They provide skilled maintenance and repair services during scheduled planned maintenance including carpentry, locksmith, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and painting for residence halls on the Columbia campus of the University of South Carolina. This position has been designated as essential personnel during inclement/hazardous weather and other emergencies.

High school diploma and 3 years directly related trade experience; or equivalence
Valid Driver's license is required.
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of general maintenance. Trade School or Apprenticeship helpful.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Skilled in the use of various trade tools. Skilled in making general repairs and adjustments to equipment used in building and maintenance work. Ability to work independently in a service oriented environment subject to frequent changing priorities. Ability to understand and apply University and Departmental policies and procedures. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to perform manual labor. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to use judgment and initiative to complete routine work without constant supervision. Ability to work on a ladder.
