Job Title: Area Wildland Urban Interface Technician
Job Description:
The Division of Forestry, Fire, and State Lands is actively seeking a self-motivated individual with a strong passion for community wildfire preparedness to assume the role as a Fire Tech III, Area Assistant Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) Specilalist for the Central Area. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work indepentley with minimal oversight in this position, the employee will collaborate with communities and agencies to proactively prepare for and mitigate the risk of wildfire in Sanpete, Sevier, Wayne, Piute, Juab, and Millard counties. This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to education initiatives and implement changes that will positively impact future generations. Principal Duties:
- Community engagement/education.
- Promote national wildfire preparedness programs.
- Collaborate with interagency groups, agencies, and partners.
- Write and administer grants and contracts.
- Plan, implement, track and report on fuel mitigation projects.
- Work closely with local Counties and WUI communities.
- Knowledge of wildfire forestry, and general landscape ecology.
- Well developed verbal and written communication.
- Experience with national wildfire programs, such as Firewise USA, Fire Adapted Communities Networks, and Ready Set, Go.
- A current NWCG wildland red card with a minimum of FFTl and ICT5 qualifications; at least 5 years working in wildland fire.
- The ability to work independently and set/keep their own schedule.

Typical Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Able to work remotely with no supervision with expected results.
- Well developed verbal and written skills.
- Current FFTl and ICT5 NWCG qualifications.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in wildland fire.
- Bachelors degree in forestry, natural resource managment or another related field.
- Experience with national wildfire preparedness programs such as Fire Adapted Communities, Firewise USA, and Ready, Set, Go!
