ABOUT THE ROLE
The Area Sales Manager is responsible for leading a team that will be expected to be the expert on local cannabis landscapes which includes detailed knowledge of retail operations, cannabis marketing-outlets, market and industry leaders, decision makers, macroeconomic issues and key competitors.
As an Area Sales Manager you and your team will support and deliver on revenue and new account penetration & saturation goals, by growing and cultivating strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING
- Resolve Customer issues and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
- Stay updated on industry developments, market conditions, regulatory requirements relevant to the sales area.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, conferences, in person partner meetings to promote products and services.
- Lead a team of Market Managers and Key Account Managers.
- Develop skills of their team leading team members
- Continuously coach and mentor a diverse team while effectively managing performance. Improve team productivity and effectiveness by building the skills and capabilities of the team members.
- Have ownership of high profile retailers, brands and key accounts
- Monitor sales activity of the team, track results, lead weekly forecast and pipeline review meetings
- Work alongside the team by supporting market strategy, account review preparation, new business demos, coaching on skillset and ensuring pipeline creation, retention, and growth of existing book of business and revenue.
- Demonstrate extreme hands-on ownership as a leader of a fast-paced, growing team and industry.
- Market Competition: Dealing with intense competition in the market can be challenging. The Area Sales Manager needs to constantly monitor competitors’ activities, understand market trends, and develop strategies to stay ahead.
- Time Management: Balancing various tasks and priorities within limited time frames can be challenging. The Area Sales Manager must efficiently allocate time for activities such as sales meetings, customer visits, team coaching, and administrative tasks.
- Territory Management: Effectively managing the assigned territory or region is crucial. This involves identifying potential customers, building relationships, and expanding the customer base while ensuring proper coverage and penetration.
- Provide input to Regional Sales Director and above on market conditions along with quantified suggestions on scalable solutions to improve processes and efficiencies.
- Actively anticipate market impact and roll out plans and provide input to Regional Sales Director.
- Ensure maximum effort towards achieving and exceeding company goals.
- As Area Sales Manager, you and your team will support delivery of revenue and/or acquisition goals by developing and sustaining strong partnerships within your area, driving implementation of internal business initiatives and process efficiencies.
- Responsible for strategy implementation, and planning within the assigned market geography and business and segmentation.
- Be the face of Leafly, build the Leafly brand in local markets and at industry trade shows.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or related field; (Preferred)
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
- Proven experience in sales management, preferably in a similar industry or product category.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a sales team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of sales techniques, strategies, and best practices.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends to make informed decisions.
- Results-driven and goal-oriented with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.

SEATTLE, WA PAY RANGE
- $112,000-$128,000 base salary
- $28,000-$32,000 variable pay eligible
- On Target Earnings $140k-$160k
- Salary will be adjusted based on geographic location.
