This position is located with the Marine Corps Exchange Overhead at Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA. Incumbent will serve as the Sales Manager and is responsible for effective sales management practices assigned retail area or category.

Major Duties

- Leads by example to: shape and sustain a working environment conducive to the successful performance of those entrusted to his/her leadership and direction; and creating a positive atmosphere and culture within Business Operations and its constituent branches that reflect the pride, professionalism, sense of accomplishment, fulfillment, collaborative engagement, well-being, and whole-hearted customer focus of its employees.
- Responsible for personal and department sales goals. Supervises all sales and merchant activities throughout the assigned retail area or category. Works with the Operations Manager to ensure proper scheduling, staffing coverage and training of team members within the assigned sales area. Plans and executes all corporate service and sales programs, product promotions and other events. Proactively identifies opportunities to resolve customer problems and concerns.
- Communicates any outstanding problem resolution issues with the Experience Manager. Understands and articulates all MCX value stories, programs, and promotions.
- Partners with the Brand Integrity representative, Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager on upcoming floor sets, visual displays, and planogram planning. Becomes an active partner to the Brand Integrity representative during floor sets and floor changes.
- Identifies opportunities to produce add-on sales through consultative and suggestive selling processes. Ensures all sale, ad and promotional items are signed and placed according to brand standards. Ensures all product displays and planograms are signed and labeled according to brand standards. Identifies and reduces all risks of loss and/or theft.
- Offers assistance and suggestive selling advice as the customer progresses throughout their shopping experience and at various connecting points such as the fitting room. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Supervises employees to include: assigning and distributing work, scheduling, coaching, counseling, tutoring, and mentoring employees; approving and disapproving leave; recommending and completing personnel actions; completing performance reviews and signing timecards; training employees. Assists in developing and ensuring the implementation and control of an adequate, effective, and appropriate training plan for all personnel. Has key holder responsibility: opening and closing stores and receiving products.
- May require food handling safety training, handling, and certification. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working within a sales/selling environment, advanced selling skills, techniques and product merchandising skills required.
- BACHELOR'S DEGREE from an accredited college or university in a related field appropriate to work of the position, OR an appropriate combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of knowledge and skill equivalent to that gained in the above, OR THREE YEARS of practical experience that demonstrates that the applicant has acquired the knowledge, skills, and abilities equivalent to that gained in the above.
- One year of experience working in a supervisory role within a sales/selling environment is preferred. Ability to train operating standards and procedures for service, service recovery, sales leadership and store brand as well as work within the position to execute these standards properly and coach others within the team to do so with a high degree of skill and confidence.
- Ability to work in a high-performance atmosphere with commitment to service goals. Ability to multi-task with high quality follow-up and holding teams accountable to results. Strong working knowledge of business processes, controls, and system development.
FOR POSITIONS INVOLVING FIREARMS/AMMUNITION ONLY: This is a "covered position" for the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act for Department of the Navy civilian personnel. Due to contact with firearms, or ammunition in accomplishing work, DD Form 2760 certifying whether a "qualifying conviction" for a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence has occurred MUST be completed. The continuing obligation to notify the immediate supervisor of any qualifying conviction through completion of DD Form 2760 is REQUIRED. Ability to successfully obtain/maintain a Tier 3 background investigation.
