Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in history or library science from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Essential Functions
These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
- Accessions, processes, organizes and describes physical and digital collection material according to archival standards.
- Creates access tools for collections such as Finding Aids and inventories in accordance with archival standards.
- Reviews Finding Aids created by other staff and student assistants for quality control.
- Ensures accessibility of Finding Aids published through McCall Library website, SOUTHCAT, and JagWorks.
- Assists in identifying campus publications for inclusion in McCall Library collections and the JagWorks Digital Commons institutional repository.
- Assists in the development of efficient workflows for processing digital materials for access through Digital Commons.
- Utilizes collection management software (PastPerfect and Excel) to maintain collection records.
- Maintains inventory shelf list and relocate collection materials as needed for efficient space management.
- Rehouses collection material appropriately to promote preservation.
- Assists with preservation of materials, such as cleaning and minor repair of documents in consultation with the director.
- Digitizes collection material applying archival standards to image capture and description.
- Employs photo editing software to optimize image quality.
- Creates and records standards based file metadata.
- Monitors environmental conditions in stacks that may be detrimental to collection material.
- Keeps collection areas clean.
- Prepares or assists in preparation of physical and digital exhibits and special programming to engage campus and community members.
- Prepares or assists in preparation of grants.
- Works on special projects as assigned.
- Trains and supervises student workers.
- Regular and prompt attendance.
- Ability to work schedule as defined and additional duties as required.
- Related duties as required.
