Schnackel Engineers, Inc. is a privately owned mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and information technology (MEP/FP/IT) consulting engineering company headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska with several strategic regional offices across the United States. Our work centers on the production of construction documents, primarily in the commercial and institutional sectors of the Architectural Engineering industry. We are growing and have an opening for a Field Coordinator/Surveyor to join our team. The position is a full-time (salary) position and is located in the New York, Miami, Omaha or Los Angeles office.

We are looking for an upbeat, positive problem-solver who enjoys extensive travel and providing unmatched customer service to join the team as a Field Coordinator in our office!

The Field Coordinator must have good practical knowledge of Architectural Engineering Technology, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing construction techniques, and be able to identify all key components of MEP building systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Document existing conditions for plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection.
  • Coordinate with design team, architects, and clients.
  • Take measurements above ceilings and rooftops.
  • Climb ladders and operate scissor lifts.
  • Travel 3-4 days a week to job sites in all 50 states, parts of Canada, and Puerto Rico.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 year Associates Degree in Architectural Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 3 or more years of field experience in the construction industry.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, BlueBeam, Adobe PDF, MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Knowledge of building codes.
  • Valid U.S. passport.

Working under the direction of the Field Operations Coordinator and Vice President of Operations, you will travel to project sites throughout the US and Canada on initial site assessment visits, as well as to perform construction observation visits during the construction phase. The Field Coordinator must have a good practical knowledge of Architectural Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing construction techniques, and be able to identify all key components of MEP building systems.
