What Will You Be Doing?

The Cloud Solution Architect will be key in the development and implementation of systems architecture, ensuring business needs are met by gathering requirements and functional specifications and assessing current software systems in order to identify areas in need of improvement. The Cloud Solution Architect will interface across several business areas, acting as visionary, to proactively assist in defining the direction for future projects and is an experienced, enthusiastic innovative and hands-on individual who can rapidly learn current state and provide guidance to ensure long-term success.

Frontier Airlines is currently reviewing qualified candidates for a Cloud Solution Architect. The ideal candidate is someone with 12+ years of development experience in Microsoft .NET technologies and 5+ years of experience leading and architecting enterprise level solutions. For the right candidate, Frontier Airline's development environment provides a unique opportunity to be a key player rebuilding the entire commercial software system (Website, Mobile App, Middleware). It will be designed and implemented in an ultra-modern cloud-first architecture where you will be part of the team making the development and architecture decisions this system will be built upon.

Essential Functions

  • Provide comprehensive architectural and leadership to the development staff across the full stack of technologies at the highest technical level to ensure proposed solutions are technically viable
  • Performs initial design, problem solving and reviews of software architecture that conforms with the strategic direction of Frontier.

  • Work within an agile team to lead and architect cloud-first consumer-facing responsive web applications built on Microsoft technologies (C#, ASP.NET MVC, .Net Core, SQL Server, Web API, etc.)
  • Set architecture and development standards, risk management, and security policies

  • Understand the changing business needs of the organization/projects and recommend viable strategies for the future
  • Work with a cross-functional team in designing, planning, developing and implementing initiatives around both new and existing technology products
  • Work with development, architects, quality assurance, and business teams to implement new solutions and enhancements to existing solutions
  • Provide technical guidance and consulting from strategy to planning to issue resolution
  • Explain and document existing system capabilities to key business users while leveraging existing capabilities into solutions

  • Work closely with business stakeholders so that business vision and requirements are addressed correctly
  • Analyze complex functional and non-functional requirements and make appropriate design adjustments, as well as provide effort estimates to support project management
  • Leading small trial and proof of concept technology projects
  • Working alongside partner and other third-party organizations (e.g., vendors) as required, providing specialist expertise


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 12+ years' experience within the Microsoft technology stack, including hands-on experience using C#, .NET framework, and .NET Core
  • 5+ years of experience in an architecture leadership role, designing end-to-end, enterprise solutions across the complete systems development lifecycle
  • Proven experience of Microsoft Azure and building enterprise solutions using all that Azure has to offer is critical for this position
  • Project management and leadership skills are essential
  • Experience in software engineering and design architecture
  • Advanced understanding of business analysis techniques and processes
  • Understanding of DevOps methodology and Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment
  • Experience building complex solutions in a demanding environment


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong background in Systems/Application Architecture, with proven abilities to analyze the current business, detect critical deficiencies, and recommend solutions for improvement
  • Collaborative, diplomatic and articulate demeanor that encourages broad base acceptance and support of solutions which align with strategic technology direction of the company
  • Ability to communicate effectively and articulate technology concepts in a clear, understandable manner
  • Highly organized with an ability to work in a fast-paced, multi stakeholder environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Must be a team player and able to work with and through others.
  • Consistently able to meet challenges and work to a high level.


Equipment Operated

Standard office equipment, including personal computers, Apple computers, various and future tablets, smartphones and wearable technology, copiers, fax machine, printer, phones, and future and upcoming technology that may not yet be publicly available

Work Environment / Remote Work Options

  • This role can be based at our headquarters in Denver, CO or anywhere in the United States via a remote work arrangement (periodic travel to Denver from a Frontier-serviced city required)
  • If remote, you must be able to follow our remote work policies, including ability and comfort level working from home with access to a high-speed internet connection
  • If headquarters-based, typical office environment, adequately heated and cooled

Generally, not required.

Salary Range:

$130,000.00 - $160,000.00
