ROLE REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As an Aquatics Director, your job will include direct involvement in training, hiring, administrative duties, and daily management of the operations of the facility. This person will be expected to teach aquatics 10 - 15 hours per week. This position requires: a current Lifeguard Instructor, WSIT, and CPO/AFO certification.
General
- Represent the Philosophy of Small Fish Big Fish Swim School.
- Always work within the mission and core values of SFBF.
- Teach swim lessons 10-15 hours a week. Be a role model for all Aquatic Educators.
- Be ready to substitute and be on call as needed.
- Be able to teach and train all levels.
- Oversee the scheduling of all aquatic facilities to ensure all user groups (Internal and External) receive adequate and appropriate use.
- Oversee the development of quarterly and annual aquatics program goals, learning outcomes, the appropriate assessment tools, and an annual calendar of aquatic class schedules and events designed to bring people into SFBF and maximize usage of the facility.
- Ensure all paperwork is completed as it pertains to student records and progress reports, move up policies and procedures. Ensure daily & weekly reports are completed.
- Maintain certifications in Lifeguarding, LGI, WSI, WSI equivalent, and AFO/CPO to ensure it is current.
- Review, evaluate, and update pool policies regularly.
- Educate and enforce safety rules and policies. Strive to prevent accidents and maintain discipline.
- Be prepared to activate the Emergency Action Plan for any crisis that may arise and all team members.
- Understand all systems used and reporting; CareerPlug, iClassPro, Trello, Swim Consultant, WhenToWork, and National Crime Search.
- Partake in Industry Appropriate Webinars and implement relevant material.
- Attend Regional and National Conferences when possible.
- Plan and coordinate In-Service training monthly.
- Actively, hire, train, supervise, manage, and schedule work shifts for all employees, including finding coverage for swim classes in coordination with the Leadership Team Members.
- Extensive input into all advancement of all Aquatic Team Members, including Captains, Leads, Aquatic Educators, and Assistants.
- Ensure Aquatic Educators adhere to SFBF agreements, procedures, and methods referenced in e-Learning during In-Services and training.
- Monitor and enforce uniform policy
- Lead pre - shift and post - shift huddles, including essential information and advice in preparation of their daily classes with students.
- Motivate, encourage, and develop team members by utilizing and recommending e-learning training courses and other resources.
- Monitor Team Members' E-learning and any obtained Certifications.
- Communicate weekly with each Aquatic Team Member to ensure:
- All classes are running as expected.
- Each staff member is equipped with the resources and tools as necessary.
- To stay updated on availability changes.
- To build an open work rapport with all team members.
- Address performance and behavior concerns with Aquatic Team Members when necessary.
- Conduct formal Aquatic Team Members evaluations quarterly.
- Coordinate and assist with HR and payroll regarding work hours, and work shifts as needed.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate risk management policies and procedures for aquatics classes and programs.
- Ensure a clean and safe pool environment for clients, staff, and the general public.
- Responsible for daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly pool area cleaning & maintenance.
- Ensure the water chemistry is balanced; equipment and chemicals are monitored and documented thoroughly.
- Ensure the Aquatic Team Members adhere to all safety procedures and methods as created.
- Continual training of Emergency Action Plan.
- Coordinate Monthly Safety weeks with the assistance of the Aquatics Lead
- Coordinate Safety events.
- Educate and enforce safety rules. Strive to prevent accidents and maintain discipline.
- Act as the First Responder in any crisis while awaiting medical professionals to arrive on the scene.
- Coordinate closely with the Leadership Team to:
- Resolve operational issues and concerns.
- Collaborate ideas, strategies, and involvement on projects, and group tasks.
- Develop and implement new methods and routines.
- Coordinate closely with Marketing Department and partake to:
- Collaborate marketing ideas and trends.
- Implement new strategies to enhance client and student enrollment and involvement.
- Coordinate closely with all Team Members to:
- Assign tasks within their designated work space.
- Teach and train new skills and techniques.
- To build and maintain a teamwork environment.
- Plan pre - shift and post - shift huddles and Team Member chores.
- Address any parental concerns about classes and/or situations.
- Inform and provide details of any concerns regarding students skills and progression with the parent.
- Review any drop or pause forms pertaining to the class or Aquatic Educators and rectify them to the best of your ability.
- Assist Front Desk team members with any pertinent customer service conversations when acting as the Manager on Duty.
