Apprentice Machinist

Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments using precision measuring devices, micrometers, etc.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications to determine machining operations
- Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to complete the job
- Monitor and adjust machine settings to ensure proper performance and quality of finished products
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments to ensure conformance to specifications
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with machines or equipment as they arise
- Maintain a clean and organized work area with good housekeeping habits

Skills:
- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of machining principles
- Proficiency in tooling selection and setup for different machining operations
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings
- Experience working with power tools and operating machinery such as milling machines, electrical discharge machines, or coordinate measuring machines (CMM)
- Knowledge of plastics injection molding processes is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and conversions, fluent ability to read a tape measure.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
