Description:
In this role, you will be responsible for organizing and executing plans to perform destructive and non-destructive testing of materials using a variety of laboratory tests and equipment. In this hands-on position, you'll work with engineers and other technicians to develop the materials and processes used to build our oil and gas components.
Responsibilities
Perform mechanical tests, including tensile, Charpy impact, and hardness testing per requests and instructions provided by internal and external customers.
Perform Non-Destructive-Testing/Evaluation methodologies, such as Computed Tomography, and optical scanning.
Perform quality assurance / dimensional inspection assessing the precision and accuracy of the manufactured components.
Analyse, document, and communicate results to stakeholders.
Work with engineers to develop test plans to meet material testing goals
Demonstrate strict attention to detail in executing laboratory analyses
Maintain laboratory equipment and facilities
Requirements
Minimum 2 years' experience in laboratory environment including mechanical testing
Basic engineering laboratory skills including personal protective equipment, job hazard analysis, and work instructions
Experience using mechanical testing equipment, including load frames: servo-hydraulically actuated and electro-mechanically actuated
Thorough knowledge of specimen extraction, preparation, and measurement of specimens for destructive and non-destructive evaluation, both pre and post testing
Knowledge on various metrology tools
Familiarity with industry materials testing standards (ASTM E8, ASTM E23, etc.)
Qualifications
An associate degree preferred. equivalent education and/or experience will be considered
Strong attention to detail and basic problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Basic math skills required
