UW MEDICINE IT SERVICES has an outstanding job opportunity for an APPLICATIONS ANALYST 1, ANCILLARY position.
WORK SCHEDULE
  • OPEN TO CURRENT UW MEDICINE IT SERVICES EMPLOYEES ONLY.
  • 100% FTE - 40 hours per week
  • Day Shift - UW MEDICINE ITS SERVICES CORE HOURS ARE 07:00 - 16:00 (PST), Monday-Friday
  • HYBRID POSITION - POSITION REQUIRES ONSITE VISITS TO UW MEDICAL CENTERS AND CLINICS.

  • DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
    UW Medicine IT Services (ITS) is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), Valley Medical Center (VMC), UW Neighborhood Clinics (UWNC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). In addition, UW Medicine shares in the ownership and governance of Children's University Medical Group and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (a partnership between UW Medicine, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research, and Seattle Children's). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.
    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • You support proactive system monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance for application issues to meet established Service Level Agreements. Work with user groups to provide diagnostic assistance, resolution to questions and problem direction.
  • You maintain internal issue tracking and follow issue tracking policies and guidelines.
  • You support the application design, build, and implementation of assigned area by identifying improvement opportunities through analysis.
  • You provide consistent and timely IT service deliverables using thorough analysis and thoughtful application of technologies.
  • You prioritize tasks with guidance from designated lead, supervisor, or project manager.
  • You provide detailed status of assigned tasks to lead, supervisor, or project manager.
  • You support application testing by testing all scenarios conforming to quality standards at the functional level, including testing assigned system changes and assisting with development of test plans for usability, performance, and adherence to standards and executing, tracking, and reporting detailed results of application and system testing.
  • You evaluate and implement management requests for information to generate reporting requirements.
  • You design new workflows or application features to support data collection.
  • You coordinate system information requests and trouble reports, including flow, tracking, and prioritization.

  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Health Information Systems, Math, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • 2+ years' of overall experience to include the below.
  • 2+ years recent healthcare or IT experience.
  • Exposure to EHR systems application maintenance/support and/or exposure to Ancillary (non-Epic) applications.
  • Demonstrates a strong customer-oriented mindset, with experience effectively satisfying their expectations.
  • Experience participating in the process of defining and gathering customer requirements.
  • Experience assisting team members and sharing knowledge.
  • Exposure to database structures, data definitions, and data relationships.
  • Exposure to formal project management methods.
  • Experience assisting staff on the use of systems, preferably in a healthcare environment.

  • CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • This is an Information Technology deadline-driven work environment.
  • The individual in this position is expected to work normal daytime hours. The work may be performed in either an office environment or by telecommuting with manager approval, during normal business hours; however, significant off-hours and weekends may be needed to resolve problems and respond to emergencies. This individual is expected to be available for emergencies (business continuity/disaster recovery efforts) on a 24x7 basis as needed.
  • Must coordinate projects without direct supervisory authority.
  • Must work within the constraints of multiple technical environments.
  • The individual in this position must learn many organizational structures and cultures and continually foster collaboration.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
