About The Role

In the role of Application Security Engineer, you will be essential in implementing and maintaining security measures across Seegrid's product lines.

Working within our software operations team, your primary responsibilities will include collaborating with engineers, product managers, and customers to identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities in both the hardware and software components of our products. You will play a key role in integrating security practices into the product development lifecycle, ensuring the integrity and reliability of our autonomous vehicle fleets and supporting infrastructure.

You will work directly with the development teams responsible for our AMRs and the software platforms that manage them. By identifying vulnerabilities and assessing the effectiveness of remediation efforts, you will help maintain the high standard of security that our customers expect from Seegrid products.

This position is a critical part of our effort to maintain and enhance the security posture of Seegrid solutions.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Interpreting and analyzing vulnerability scans on robotics systems and associated servers to identify and provide guidance on mitigation of security threats
  • Integrating additional security processes and tooling into Seegrid's SDLC, ensuring best practices are follow across the software lifecycle
  • Contributing to the development, maintenance, and implementation of security policies, standards, and procedures for the Engineering organization
  • Evaluating Application Security in all phases of the SDLC to include collaborating with product and engineering teams to define Application Security requirements and integrate them into product design
  • Sharing knowledge with peers by giving tech talks, promoting secure coding best practices, collaborating on process improvements, and fostering a DevSecOps mindset
  • Staying current with relevant security threats and developments and recommending changes to Application Security controls as required
  • Communicating software engineering security practices and procedures to customers, effectively responding to security questionnaires, and enhancing customer confidence in our security posture.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a similar field of study, or equivalent practical experience
  • Proven experience in administering, configuring, and maintaining vulnerability assessment tools, such as Tenable Nessus or Rapid7.
  • Solid experience working with modern development and deployment workflows and CI/CD systems
  • Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker), and container orchestration solutions like Kubernetes and Docker Compose
  • Experience with at least one scripting language (e.g. bash, Python) to automate security tasks
  • Understanding of programming concepts with experience in one or more languages (e.g. C++, Kotlin, Python)
  • Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks (preferably Vue.js)
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with interdisciplinary stakeholders, providing consulting and execution support on security initiatives
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and engaging effectively with all audiences on security matters.
  • Strong understanding of security principles, threat modeling, and risk assessment techniques as they apply to software and hardware products
  • Familiarity with Linux-based systems and OS package management
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps Principles
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and related security patterns

Desirable Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Relevant security certification (e.g. CSSLP, CISSP, CISA, CISM)
  • Experience in robotics or autonomous vehicles
  • Professional experience with ROS, ROS2, DDS, or other data-centric middleware
  • Experience with secure coding practices, code review, and static and dynamic analysis tools
  • Familiarity with security standards and frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST)
  • Experience with over-the-air (OTA) update solutions or IoT devices
