Overview: We are seeking an Application Developer (Assembler) / Mainframe Systems Engineer to join our remote team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the design, development, integration, testing, and deployment of a modernized BMF (Business Master File) platform, while also providing essential support for day-to-day Operations & Maintenance (O&M) tasks aligned with IRS priorities. US Citizenship is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide support and assistance in the design, development, integration, testing, and deployment of a modernized BMF (Business Master File) platform.

Support day-to-day Operations & Maintenance (O&M) work based on IRS priorities.

Manage project management tasks, O&M activities, development, modernization, enhancements, software development, legislative changes, and developmental O&M upgrades, with a specific emphasis on utilizing IBM z/OS assembly language (Assembler) for legacy code business rules extraction and code conversion.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

In-depth knowledge of IBM z/OS assembly language (Assembler), including understanding assembly instructions, addressing modes, data manipulation techniques, and job control processing.

Familiarity with IBM mainframe architecture, including concepts like storage hierarchy (registers, memory, I/O), system calls (SVCs), and interrupt handling mechanisms.

Knowledge of CA Endevor Software Change Manager (SCM) tool, including experience with version control, release management, security and access control, and integration of Endevor with other development tools.

Knowledge of BMC Control-M, specifically with respect to automating job scheduling, managing workflows, and monitoring job execution.

Understanding of mainframe tools, with proficiency in debuggers, assemblers, linkers, and utilities specific to the IBM z/OS mainframe environment.

In-depth knowledge of legacy mainframe data formats, including experience with DB2, QSAM, VSAM data formats.

Understanding of target Java code, with the ability to translate assembly logic to modern constructs such as mapping assembly instructions to equivalent Java code using loops, conditional statements, functions, and object-oriented design patterns.

Active IRS MBI Clearance highly desirable.

Experience with IRS Core Record Layout (CRL), QSAM Data Formats highly desirable.

Experience with IRS Individual Master File (IMF) or Business Master File (BMF) highly desirable.

Pay: $100,606.34 - $130,988.28 per year
