The City of Clinton is currently seeking several qualified applicants for the position of Part-Time Animal Control Officer. Under limited supervision:
A. Patrol city limits and receive and respond to animal complaints, including animals at large, stray, vicious, abandoned, nuisance, or abused.
B. Monitor violations of Animal Control city ordinances and state laws.
C. Apprehend stray or at large animals for impoundment.
D. Clean and sanitize the shelter kennels, cages, and dishes.
E. Care for shelter animals.
F. Facilitate the adoption of shelter animals.
G. Apprehend diseased or injured animals.
H. Determine ownership of animals at large.
I. Handle vicious animals or displeased citizens while utilizing officer safety.
J. Offer suggestions to animal owners to aid in compliance with laws and ordinances.
K. Investigate incidences of animal cruelty, dog bites, and dog attacks.
L. Prepare reports and enter data into computer relating to animal incidents.
M. Issue warnings and contacts officers if citations need to be issued.
N. Testify in court if needed.
O. Pick up animals to be euthanized.
P. Remove dead animals from roadways and citizens property.
Q. Assist dispatch/jailers as required.
R. Perform related tasks as required.
Requirements: Requirements include, but are not limited to: (1) Applicant must be at least 21 years of age. (2) Applicant must possess and maintain a valid SC driver?s license and a good driving record. (3) Must possess a minimum of a four year high school education or GED recognized by the SC Dept. of Education or other state (4) Must be physically able to meet the demands of the job and remain calm in stressful situations (5) Position requirements include, but are not limited to, occasional strenuous physical exertion, work extended periods, good judgment, and good oral/written communication skills. (6) Work is predominately outside in a variety of climatological conditions year-round. (7) Must successfully pass all pre-employment background screenings, physical, drug screen, and other required prerequisites. (8) This is a non-exempt position. (9) This position is subject to on-going random drug screening. (10) Must be a class three officer.
Starting Salary Range: $15.00/HR
