Duties
- Feeds and provides fresh water for all confined animals daily and/or as directed; protects animals from extreme weather conditions and from other animals.
- Observes all animals confined daily for all signs of illness, insect infestation, loss of weight or abnormal behavior and reports conditions noted to supervisor.
- For hospitalized animals, administers topical and/or oral medications as directed by supervisor and records such treatments on clinic records.
- Safeguards all drugs, equipment and supplies at all times.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
indicators of fighting, illness, disease, and refusal to feed. Knowledge of normal feed and liquid requirements, different types of feed, and
the ability to adjust amounts of feed for different animals. Ability to identify animals by tattoos, tags, or other markers. Skill in handling
vicious animals. Ability to lift and carry weights up to 75 pounds. Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.

- This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
- All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
- Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
- Incentives will not be paid.
- Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
