POSITION SUMMARY- Perform analytical test of R&D products, raw materials and stability samples using instrumentation, such as, HPLC, GC, UV/Vis, FT-IR, Karl Fisher, capillary viscosity, NMR, etc.
- Execute analytical method development plans, validation documents and test method documentation.
- Review laboratory data for accuracy, consistency and completeness; identify results with potential issues requiring further investigation.
- Prepare test solutions, compounds, and reagents
- Confer with scientists and engineers to conduct analyses of research projects, interpret test results, or develop nonstandard tests
- Coordinate and advise laboratory personnel in test procedures for analyzing components and physical properties of materials.
- Analyze organic and inorganic compounds to determine chemical and physical properties, composition, structure, relationships, and reactions, utilizing chromatography, spectroscopy, and spectrophotometry techniques
- Laboratory R&D synthesis in organic chemistry with a focus on monomer and polymer synthesis. Interpret and communicate synthesis results
- Develop, establish and validate analytical testing methodology used for R&D raw materials, intermediates and final products.
- Prepare analytical method development plans, validation documents and test method documentation.
- Work with Technical/Engineering Group to develop/scale-up processes from lab-scale to production
- Reactions conducted safely in glassware and in pressurized systems
- Laboratory notebook keeping per company standards
- Prepare summary and technical reports from laboratory data
- Literature searching and technical data management
- Continuous self-education and development on chemistries relevant to project
- Enforce safety to all Plant/Lab personnel.
- BS +12 years experience, MS +4 years experience, PhD (preference will be given to those with degree in relevant field)
- Demonstrated knowledge of analytical instrumentation theory and practice, specifically, GC, GC/MS, HPLC, NMR and FT-IR.
- Demonstrated knowledge of organic chemistry and laboratory experimental techniques
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and willing to work overtime as per project needs
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently to deliver on project goals
- Degree in Chemistry (Analytical or Physical) or Polymer Science.
- 10 plus years experience in cGMP analytical or synthetic laboratory is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Empower, Chem Station, and MestReNova Software
- Knowledge of ISO 9001-2000 International Standard and cGMP protocols
