The Position: We are looking for a Healthcare Actuarial Analyst interested in growing their expertise in a mission-driven environment, while working on key projects with internal and external stakeholders. This exciting role will provide you with an opportunity to support a dedicated client project team providing Medicaid specific services, while sharpening your business and actuarial acumen. In addition, you'll have the opportunity to interact with clients and participate in the many components of supporting a new business.
In the Healthcare Actuarial Analyst role, you will take ownership of your work product and work closely with senior analysts and lead actuaries to effectively report on and present actuarial information. In this role, you will hone your ability to manage your own workflow, ask the right questions, and demonstrate your desire to go above and beyond to serve clients..
This is a paid, salaried position.
Responsibilities:
- Research and gather information
- Input data into and update health models utilizing Excel and SAS
- Assist with report preparation
- Perform self checks on analysis completed
- Demonstrate exemplary level of personal and professional integrity, and ability to support and promote Athena's mission and values
Location: This position is remote, with those located in Minneapolis having the option to work at Athena's headquarters. 2-4 opportunities to travel to other Athena hub cities for team building and in-person work weeks per year may be requested but not necessarily required.
Candidates must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
Requirements:
- Ideal candidates have 0 – 3 years of experience
- Working towards ASA or FSA
- Experience in actuarial services through schoolwork, internship, or work experience
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Insatiable curiosity and interest in learning new things
- Demonstrated commitment to Athena's mission, vision, and values
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Experience in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word
Nice to Have:
- Experience in Medicaid or other public health insurance programs
- Experience in healthcare
- Experience with VBA, SAS, or SQL
