Position Description:
This position will be involved in vehicle safety systems development through multiple stages of development starting from the block diagram architecture phase. Primary responsibility is to help engineer and develop the safety systems for next generation vehicles. -Work with Advanced Vehicle Crash Safety and Program Design teams. -Define safety system contents and influence architecture that ensures vehicle platform targets are met -Perform CAE analysis and work with test engineers to complete development of vehicle safety systems -Analyze test data and CAE results -Interact with automotive suppliers and global team to build, test and verify safety systems
Skills Required:
-Strong engineering mechanics fundamentals -Proficient with commercial finite element codes (LS-DYNA) and pre/post tools -Knowledge of global passive safety public domain and regulatory requirements for frontal and/or side impact -Highly motivated and creative -Excellent communication and leadership skills
Skills Preferred:
-An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team -Some experience with CAD using commercial codes. -A system approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement -
Experience Required:
Experience working with passive safety systems and components (seat belts, airbags) -Experience in designing and launching new safety systems from concept to production (test and CAE)
Experience Preferred:
-Experience developing interior vehicle Component requirements (IP/Doors/Seats/etc..) -Experience deriving cost, manufacturability, reliability and failure modes tradeoffs from based on specific designs
Education Required:
B.S. Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering or Engineering Mechanics
Education Preferred:
M.S. or PhD in Mechanical, Aerospace or Civil Engineering or Engineering Mechanics
