The IT Business Analyst operates as an advocate for IT and serves as a liaison with other departments within J.J. Taylor Companies, Inc. to determine appropriate technology-based solutions to business problems. Responsibilities include assessing business needs and designing and configuring solutions, utilizing available software solutions; Power BI, Power Automate, Intacct and other applications; initiating and leading other projects; and providing day-to-day support of J.J. Taylor’s applications. The IT Business Analyst will become a resource to the business community in the understanding and leveraging of the organization’s IT Assets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Gathers detailed requirements from business users for approved projects and/or enhancements to existing projects. Determines how changing business needs will affect existing systems. Must quickly learn new areas of the business to provide adequate support as business needs change.
- Take a lead role in planning, design, configuration, documentation, testing and deployment of projects.
- Lead design sessions in prototyping new systems for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations and information process flow.
- Partner with the business to facilitate the implementation of new or modified system changes.
- Set and manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
- Apply technology and business knowledge to solve business problems.
- Create formal requirements documentation.
- Coordinates and/or performs testing of system modifications and develops systems training and education tools/materials. Validates that user requirements are met by developed solutions.
- Conducts research and analysis into the nature, effect, and results of system problems including root cause analysis through problem ticket resolution. Performs program configuration/modification and sets up activities for enterprise systems.
- Develop reports utilizing Power BI and systems-based reporting tools.
- Assists users with understanding Business Systems and supports users with system issues.
- After hours support will be required as needed.
- High level of proficiency with Office Suite to include Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Microsoft Power Platform, Microsoft Project and Visio
- Solid understanding of concepts governing relational database structures, the use of reporting/query tools and the construction of SQL statements.
- Understanding of concepts related to robotic process automation, Microsoft Power Automate.

- Working Knowledge in any of the following is preferred but not required: Encompass route accounting software, Intact Cloud Based Accounting, and Ceridian HRIS
Educational/Vocational/Previous Experience Recommendations:
2. Minimum 5-7 years of experience with business analysis or systems development or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3. College degree in Computer Science/Management Information Systems or Business Administration highly preferred.
- ERP or WMS Support experience
- Experience with formal development and business requirements methodologies and tools
- Functional Knowledge in any of the following: Distribution, Route Accounting, Finance or Logistics
- Normal office environment.
