Job description

Summary
The incumbent serves in the Architect of the Capitol's Architect's Mobility Program (AMP) as a Pipefitter Worker. The position acquires on-the-job training in the basics of pipefitting as well as formal classroom training, and performs progressively more difficult worker level tasks which assist journey level Pipefitters with more complex duties.

Clarification from the agency
Applications will be accepted from current Architect of the Capitol (AOC) employees with at least one (1) year of permanent service OR one (1) year or more of current continuous service at grades GS-1 through GS-8 OR WG-1 through WG-8 OR WL-1 through WL-8 or other equivalent wage rates. If you do not meet any of these categories, you are NOT eligible.
Duties
Tour of Duty: Monday through Friday - 2nd shift, 12:30pm to 9:00pm
This position is designated as "Emergency/Essential," the incumbent will be required to report to work during emergencies and inclement weather conditions.
Supervisor has the right to Assign, Shift Changes and working hours and to accommodate agency's needs.
Carries and handles tools, fittings and equipment for the journeyman Pipefitter, holding pipes during assembly, and screwing or bolting pipe hangers to walls or ceilings.
Tightens pipe connections and valves and cuts or drills previously marked holes in walls. Cleans tools, machines, and equipment and keeps work areas clean and orderly.
Assists in covering exposed sections of pipe to prevent freezing or to retain heat in hot water lines. Uses such tools as bract and bit, keyhole saw, chisel and hammer, or electric drill.
Assists with the installation, maintenance, and repair of high temperature water and high-pressure piping systems such as, steam heating, and steam-generating systems.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
