POSITION TITLE: AlumniNetworking Instructor
LOCATION: Remote
REPORTS TO: Director Alumni Technical Training
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Per Scholas is seeking a Networking instructor to become a member of our Alumni Engagement & Training Team. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, problem-solving individual with strong technical and instructional skills, demonstrates the ability to adapt quickly to a dynamic environment, and maintains a strong sense of accountability. To succeed in this role, candidates must be business-minded within our mission focus and excel in instructional delivery that meets clients' and learners' high expectations.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Deliver virtual training preparing students for entry-level careers in Network Support which includes daily instruction, assessment administration, attendance, one-on-one tutoring, evaluation and monitoring of individual student progress daily, addressing student violations with students in a consistent manner, and more
  • Work virtually in collaboration with the Director of Curriculum to identify and continually evaluate and evolve the training as demanding new technologies become available.
  • Provide students with access to relevant sources for outside learning on technologies and study aids relevant to the curriculum
  • Work closely with the team to identify student needs, provide the necessary support, establish individualized plans for student achievement, and participate in regular student-status meetings.
  • Maintain and update Salesforce and/or our LMS with student grades, certification, scores, and progress notes.
  • Create, submit and maintain training curricula, syllabi, lesson plans, and any other classroom materials for approval and files.
  • Work closely with staff at other sites to ensure the integrity of implementing the model
  • Maintain a minimum of an 80% class pass and graduation rate for every cohort.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO US:
Instructional Skill-Sets
  • 1-3 years of teaching or training experience
  • Strong technical background; able to grasp and convey highly technical subject matter
  • Ability to respond with clarity to live digital conversations via a digital engagement platform such as Zoom or in-person training environment.
  • Strong communication skills

Required Skill-Sets
  • Current CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA Certification
  • Familiarity with various operating systems
    • Advanced knowledge of Windows, Apple, and Linux Operating Systems; this includes both end-user and server versions.
    • Conceptual understanding of Windows OS
      • server & desktop administration
      • Powershell scripting
    • Conceptual understanding of Unix
      • Linux server & desktop administration
      • Bash shell scripting
  • Experience with Active Directory Administration and AD Admin Activities with Powershell
    • Windows Server 201X (installation and configuration)
    • Server roles (DNS/DHCP/RADIUS/NCAP)
    • SMB/Netbios
    • Powershell | Windows Terminal
  • Knowledge of Network Fundamentals
    • OSI Layers
    • TCP/IP, ICMP, ARP, SYN/ACK, Traceroute, PING, Netstat, NBTStat, IPv4/IPv6
    • LAN fundamentals (hardware topology), Client/Server, Internet Connectivity
    • Wifi protocols (WEP, WPA, WPA2), Routers, Switches, Firewalls, IDS/IIPS, Demilitarized Zones
  • Ability to Instruct Network Concepts
    • Solid experience working with GNS3, CISCO devices and proficiency in simulating CISCO IOS using tools like Cisco Packet Tracer, Graphical Network Simulator-3 (GNS3) and VMWare workstation pro
    • Proficiency with network analysis tools, routing, and switching protocols
    • Solid experience with network troubleshooting, maintenance, documentation, and reporting
    • NIST Zero Trust Model
    • OWASP overview
    • Cyber Terminology aka "zero day" etc Open source tools, common attack vectors, social engineering, endpoint protection tools
    • Web Application firewalls
  • Familiarity with Network Security Operations
    • VPNs, TOR, Security Authentication (RBAC) - Radius
    • SSL, HTTPS, SSH, Telnet
  • Familiarity with Cloud & Container Networking
    • Understanding of AWS, Azure
    • IAAS, SAAS, PAAS
    • Cloud topology
    • Virtualization: Hypervisor, Hyper-V, Virtualbox, ESXi
    • Docker/Kubernetes overview

Preferred Skill-Sets
  • Cisco Certified Network (CCNA or CCNP) certification
  • CompTIA Security+ Certified
  • 3+ years' experience with IP Networking in a customer-facing environment, service provider a plus
  • 3+ years of networking experience with a strong foundation in LAN/WAN routing, switching, TCP/IP + OSI layers, CISCO IOS and packet tracer
  • Experience with Active Directory

Professional Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent practical/industry experience).
  • Strong technical aptitude (Google Sheets/Excel, Slides/PowerPoint, Salesforce,Slack, Zoom, etc.), project management, and organizational skills with detailed follow-through abilities.
  • Excellent written communication, presentation, and customer service skills.
  • Solid understanding of business needs.
  • Strong evaluation and data management skills.
  • Prior knowledge or background in IT (if minimal, a desire and willingness to learn what's needed) and a passion for technology is a plus.

For this role specifically, we are targeting a range between $65,000/year and $70,000/year, where the difference in salary is typically determined by several factors, including geography in which the selected candidate resides, and alignment with qualifications and experience.
