FLSA STATUS: Exempt
CLASSIFICATION:  Non-Personnel System
PAY GRADE: 120

Purpose of Job
The purpose of this position is under limited supervision, exercise responsibility for the administration of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Program and the Divorcing Parents Program for the Superior Court of the Western Circuit and the 10th Judicial District Alternative Dispute Resolution Program, manage all operations, planning functions, and budgetary formulation.
 
 Job Related Requirements
WORK SCHEDULE:  Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm with occasional evenings 
 May be required to work on religious holidays.
 Regular and predictable attendance is required.
 Must work cooperatively with others.
 When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness, and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy.
 

Minimum Training & Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

Bachelor’s degree in business or related discipline with training in paralegal, political science, or pre-law and four years of experience to include office management, office computer software, and budgetary responsibilities required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Two years of supervisory experience is required.
Must possess a valid driver's license. 
Must possess or have the ability to acquire Notary Public status.
 
Certification and registration as a neutral with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution in one or more areas preferred and/or ability to obtain certification

Essential Duties, Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this job.  These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.  Other duties may be required and assigned.
Supervises and evaluates assigned staff, handling all employee concerns, directing work assignments, counseling and disciplining employees when necessary, and completing employee performance appraisals.
Oversees the Alternative Dispute Resolution Program, including the review and determination of cases for mediation; designates case assignments to mediators; schedules mediation sessions; and notifies involved parties of the date, time, and location of scheduled sessions.
 
Serves as a backup mediator when an assigned mediator is sick or otherwise unavailable whenever possible.
Maintains complete, comprehensive, and accurate files on all cases referred to the program.
Notifies the court of the progress achieved on each case referred to facilitate disposition.
Reviews neutral applications for placement on the program's roster.
Monitors the performance of neutrals on the program's roster on an ongoing basis.
Develops various reports detailing program activities and budgeting.
 
Maintains all administrative, budgetary, and personnel records of both programs.
 
Updates policies, procedures, or rules when required by GODR or as needed for improvement
Oversees the Divorcing Parents Program, including the review and determination of cases for participation in the program, schedules program sessions, and notifies involved parents of the date, time, and location of scheduled sessions.  Monitors parent records of attendance and notifies the court of parent attendance.
 
Completes domestic violence Tier I and/or Tier II screenings on all domestic relations cases and any cases in which domestic violence is alleged or has been reported.
Notifies the court of a parent’s failure to attend scheduled Divorcing Parents sessions and provides documentation and/or testimony as needed.
Attends the state’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program Director meetings.
Prepares various reports required for the ADR Program’s Board of Trustees meetings and maintains current and complete records of meetings.
Requisitions office supplies, monitors expenditures for budgetary management and represents the department in fiscal negotiations for the upcoming year.
Enters and tracks data on cases assigned to Alternative Dispute Resolution and Divorcing Parents using the state-provided data tracking system or other Board of Trustees approved method.
 
Compiles various year-end reports and provides the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution with required annual data.
 
Participates in community organizations to promote Alternative Dispute Resolution programs.
 
Develops Alternative Dispute Resolution brochures, newsletters, and other material for distribution.
Performs other related duties as required.
 
 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the policies, procedures, and activities of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Program and Divorcing Parents Programs as they pertain to the performance of duties relating to the position of Alternative Dispute Resolution Coordinator.
Knowledge of procedures and methods as required in the performance of duties. 
Knowledge of the legal terminology used within the department, including basic understanding of the case types covered by Alternative Dispute Resolution, timelines, and court rules and procedures. 
Skill in utilizing computer software programs.
 
Skill in coordinating and evaluating Alternative Dispute Resolution programs.
 
Skill in Developing reports.
 
Skill in communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc., sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Ability to compile, organize, prepare, and maintain an assortment of records, reports, and information in an effective manner and according to departmental and/or governmental regulations. 
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and other staff members. 
Ability to use independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations. 
 
Ability to handle required mathematical calculations. 
Ability to utilize and understand computer applications and techniques as necessary in the completion of daily assignments. 
Ability to plan, organize and/or prioritize daily assignments and work activities.
 
Ability to comprehend and apply regulations and procedures of the department.

(ADA) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED  TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment, including computers, calculators, and fax machines.  Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. This position requires: walking, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for sedentary work.

Requires the ability to speak to groups of people with poise, voice control, and confidence.
 
INTELLIGENCE:  Requires the ability to learn and understand basic principles and techniques; to acquire and be able to expound on knowledge of topics related to primary occupation; and to make independent judgments in the absence of management.
 
VERBAL APTITUDE:  Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, and to follow oral and written instructions.  Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of administrative, technical or professional languages including legal terminology.
 
NUMERICAL APTITUDE: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; add and subtract totals; multiply and divide; and utilize and determine percentages.
 
FORM/SPATIAL APTITUDE:  Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width, and shape, visually with office equipment.
 
MOTOR COORDINATION:  Requires the ability to coordinate hands, fingers, and eyes accurately in using office equipment. Requires the ability to use the keyboard, lift, bend, push, and pull objects or materials using body parts as the position necessitates.
 
MANUAL DEXTERITY:  Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as computers and calculators.  Must have the ability to use one hand for twisting or turning motion while coordinating other hand with different activities.  Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
 
COLOR DISCRIMINATION:  May require the ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color.
 
INTERPERSONAL TEMPERAMENT:  Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.  Must be adaptable to performing under moderate stress when confronted with an emergency.
