Alarm System Technician

Full Time Position – Alarm Systems Technician

SDG is an established Security and Fire Technology firm seeking experienced technicians to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity that involves installation, inspection, and service of security Alarm Systems, access control, video surveillance, fire Alarm Systems, and related systems and networks for commercial and residential markets, and some government work. 3+ years of relevant industry experience is required.

Job Description/Responsibilities

Install, configure, and troubleshoot the following:

• Commercial and residential Integrated Security systems
• Commercial Fire Alarm systems
• Video Surveillance Systems
• Hosted Access Control Systems
• NVR and DVR equipment, and Cloud integration
• Audio/Video Systems
• Smart Home Automation

Additional responsibilities:

• Installation of all types of structured and low voltage wiring, attach components
• Terminating network cable
• Create cabling site mapping of ports and connections
• Inspect installation sites and work orders, building plans and installation manuals to determine and document material requirements and installation procedures
• Installation, amendment, and troubleshooting network equipment, switches, wireless Access Points, IT/equipment racking (IT background a plus but not required, will train)
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems, loose connections, broken insulation, and/or equipment failure
• Complete paperwork in an accurate and timely manner (e.g. service tickets, NFPA fire alarm inspection reports, records of completion and zone lists)
• Accurately notate parts needed for follow-up work and equipment onsite

Skills & Qualifications

· Installing & programming Residio (Honeywell Home) & Honeywell Commercial product lines such as VISTA (Compass), Silent Knight (HFSS / SKSS), Alarmnet360 (Residential & Commercial Radios), NetAXS / MaxPro platforms (MaxProCloud & WINPAK).

• Low Voltage Certification a big plus
• Driver’s License required / Maintain a clean driving record with the DMV and active personal vehicle car insurance
• High school diploma/GED or up to 4 years of hands-on experience in low voltage equipment installation and service
• 4+ year of experience in electrical wiring, low voltage lighting or similar industry.
• Ability to work extended hours when needed
• Have the physical ability to carry and move ladders (including extension), equipment and parts (e.g. spools of wire and batteries)
• Able to work on all sizes of ladders and lifts
• Able to understand Blueprints for low voltage electrical layouts and building plans
• Able to work within a deadline, and balance competing priorities
• Able to work both independently and as a team
• Able to operate within work scope and job site requirements
• Effective time and project management skills
• Mechanical/Electrical aptitude and a strong work ethic is a must
• Customer service background
