Form of workWashington High School Army Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (AJROTC) is looking for a retired Army Officer to serve as the Senior Army Instructor (SAI). Normal duties entail teaching AJROTC cadets the leadership, citizenship, and self-confidence skills necessary to prepare them to meet future challenges. The SAI manages the JROTC Program at their school, functioning as regular faculty members and having the same responsibilities as department heads in the school. The SAI distributes the instructional workload with the Army Instructor (AI) to include Color Guards and Community Volunteer Events. In addition to teaching duties, the SAI works with both the school and community in maintaining and strengthening the AJROTC program.
JROTC instructors must be certified by the US Army Cadet Command, Fort Knox, KY. Applicants interested in applying may download the required instructor application forms at https://www.usarmyjrotc.com/application-certification/.
Officers must be retired from the Army in the grades of W-1 through W-5 or O-3 through O-6.
Roles and Responsibilities - Army Regulation 145-2 and Cadet Command Regulation 145-2 contain specific information pertaining to the roles and responsibilities within the JROTC Program.
In addition to teaching in the classroom there are a number of activities that will require JROTC instructors to work outside of the regular school hours. An instructor's work week could easily exceed 50 hours and may include additional weekend activities.

Just as any other teacher, JROTC Instructors will be required to perform additional duties as required by the school. Additional duties may include hall monitor, chaperone, event security, test proctor, cafeteria duty, substitute teach other classes, etc.
