Job Summary:

Airport Equipment Specialists are responsible for maintaining and proper operation of airport equipment required for the various services provided by Pegasus Aviation Services, LLC.  Equipment Operators will be trained on the proper Use and Maintenance of Equipment such as:

Aircraft Deicers - For the removal of winter contaminants, such as Ice and Snow, from aircraft critical surfaces prior to a flight taking off. These services require an in-depth knowledge of Rules, Regulations, Technics and Procedures in all areas of aircraft Deicing.  A Deicing Specialist must be able to operate all the equipment in our fleet to include dual and single operator trucks.  

Deice Fill Station Operations - For mixing and loading fluids into the tank farm from suppliers and into deicing equipment during deice activities. Requires training and knowledge of regulations and procedures for the proper acceptance, distribution and mixing of fluids into tanks and trucks.

Push Back Tractors - For the safe push back and towing of aircraft from the gates and between points on the airport.  Requires training and in-depth Knowledge of Equipment and Procedures in various weather conditions to ensure the safe handling of aircraft requiring the use of tow tractors.

Cargo Loaders - For the safe loading and unloading of various aircraft.  Requires training and knowledge of proper operations and maintenance of Cargo Loaders and well as various aircraft controls used to open holds and load ULD's.

Airstart Equipment - For the proper use and maintenance of Airstart Equipment to include positioning, connections to various aircraft.

Forklifts - For the proper use and maintenance of Forklifts in Support of Cargo Operations on the ramp.  Requires training on forklift procedures and specialized cargo loading operations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the serviceability of the equipment, including supporting GSE and Quality departments by performing various inspections that they have been trained on. Daily equipment inspections will be the responsibility of the Airport Equipment Specialist.

  • The Specialist may be authorized and assigned to help perform training on the airport equipment and to help train other staff to a level of demonstrated acceptable capability with the equipment during new or recurrent staffs OJT training periods.

  • Will be assigned shifts to support Deicing operations during the winter and Ramp Operations During the Summer months.  Must be able to work various shifts seasonally.

  • Travel for Training will be required for support of summer operations to receive credentials required to support summer passenger operations and cargo operations, as assigned.

  • During down times, may be assigned other duties within Ramp Operations which they are qualified to work.

  • Airport Equipment Specialist may be required to work independently, with little supervision during their shifts.

  • Airport Equipment Specialist will report to the Deicing Manager during Dancing Season and Ramp Managers during the summer season, and perform work as assigned by them.  The Director of Operations has overall responsibility for the oversight and management of the team of Aircraft Equipment Specialists.

  • Proper and Safe operations of airport equipment for Customers aircraft as needed.

  • Perform Seasonal and Daily Equipment Inspections.

  • Perform service of equipment including Oil, Hydraulic fluids and Deicing fluids.

  • Inspects the aircraft for ice and for remaining frozen contamination after the deicing procedures are performed.

  • Safe and efficient operations of all ground service equipment.

  • Observe safe operating procedures and servicing of ground handling equipment, including the performance of equipment checks.

  • Properly and Accurately complete Billing Sheets and Forms used to document servicing of flights and equipment.

  • Must be able to properly record on invoice for billing purposes.

  • Assist with ramp agents to service, and marshal aircraft, set up and operate cargo handing equipment and observe relevant occupational safety regulations.

  • Perform Acceptance and delivery of fluid at the Deice filling stations.

  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Must Possess a valid Driver's License.

  • Be at least 18 years of age.

  • Must be willing to work in inclement weather.

  • Must be comfortable with heights.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or show proof of right to work in the U.S.

  • High School graduate or GED.

  • Able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand English.

  • Ability to work under stressful situations and tight time constraints in a fast-paced environment.

  • Self-motivated, team player.

  • Required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules during winter events.

  • Successfully complete a background investigation, including FBI fingerprints, criminal history, and pre-employment drug test

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior Ramp Service experience.

  • Prior Deicing Experience.

Language Skills:

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Speak effectively one-on-one and before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Math skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Reasoning Abilities:

  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram form.

  • Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands: moderate.

  • The Aircraft Deicers on occasion may lift or move with help up to 70 pounds, and/or more. They may frequently lift or move 70 to 100 pounds, and constantly lift or move up to 50 pounds. Aircraft Deicers are regularly required to use hands, talk, hear, bend, stoop, kneel, and is frequently required to stand, walk. They may be required to climb, sit, and balance.  Must be able to work varying shifts and overtime as needed.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.

  • Aircraft Deicers typically work outside and are exposed to all types of weather conditions with a seasonal range of temperatures which include rain, snow, wind and extreme temperatures.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can vary dramatically depending on location and time of day. Occasionally high noise levels where hearing protection is required and provided.
