Airport Engineering Internship

This position is responsible for assisting the Director of Engineering and Environmental Compliance in day to day project coordination, including but not limited to, UIC and Stormwater Controls, capital construction projects, and construction and service contracts.

• Work with the Airport Engineer on Noise Program housing mitigation program coordination.
• Work closely with engineering consulting groups by coordinating meetings and deliverable distribution for capital projects.
• Archive historical engineering plan sets and Airport Improvement Program documents in alignment with FAA standards.
• Coordinate grant application documents for compilation.
• Evaluate and provide insight into engineering proposals.
• Assist with other tasks as assigned by the Director of Engineering and Environmental Compliance.

• Ability to obtain a Burlington International Airport Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge, which includes a 10-year fingerprint based criminal history records check, a security threat assessment check and a written exam, and maintain badge privileges.
• Ability to communicate effectively to both public and staff.
• Self-starter; able to work well without continuous direction.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Working towards a B.S. in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a M.S. in Engineering.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
