The Aircraft Mechanic Helper assists Aircraft Mechanic in the removal of electrical components, hydraulic actuators, flight surfaces, struts and tires, performs any combination of the following duties.
- May be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Prioritizes workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
- Removes parts such as control cables, fuel tanks, tires, batteries and filters, using mechanic's tools.
- Removes inspection plates, cowling, engine covers, floor boards, and related items to provide access for inspection and removal of required items.
- Disconnects instruments, ignition systems, and fuel and oil lines.
- Assists in dismantling assemblies such as engines, plumbing and hydraulic systems, aircraft structural sections.
- Performs routine duties such as furnishing materials, tools and supplies to mechanic, lifting and holding materials in place during operation; cleaning work areas and machines, tools, and equipment.
- Cleans aircraft parts and assemblies with solvents or other cleaning solutions.
- Perform other job related duties as may be assigned.
Requirements:
- May work in Aircraft maintenance hangar or outside.
- May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.
- May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft.
- Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.
- Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
- Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
