Aircraft Parts Manager

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage and train associates in the materials section.
  • Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Executes supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, as well as discipline, documentation, and termination in coordination with Human Resources.
  • Approves time for scheduling and paid time off.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Direct production and inventory control, shipping and receiving, and materials storage.
  • Maintain inventory levels to ensure deliveries occur within customer timelines.
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of the perpetual inventory and rotable inventory systems
  • Manage the inventory records in accordance with the FAA requirements for a Part 135 and/or Part 145 operation, in coordination with the Chief Inspector.
  • Guarantee safe segregation of the unserviceable parts.
  • Handle with priority the AOG situations
  • Review requisitions, purchase orders and vouchers for accuracy and conformance with established policies and procedures
  • Analyze specifications and determine the best source for procurement of commodities.
  • Solicit bids, analyze those quotes, and recommend to management the best overall vendor.
  • Coordinate with team associates to schedule delivery of materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Oversee shipping and receiving functions related to purchased parts and finished goods.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce overarching department costs and charges.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and negotiate favorable pricing and contract terms.
  • Manage and monitor storage of purchased parts and finished goods.
  • Performs write-offs on damaged or obsolete inventory to reflect accurate value of inventory.
  • Conduct monthly and annual physical inventory audits to ensure accuracy of stock levels and to identify any potential issues or areas for improvement.
  • Manage and train a team and management staff to ensure that all processes and procedures are being followed according to part 145 processes.
  • Manage team schedule to provide coverage around the company requirements and flight operations which require after hours and weekend service.
  • DCMA 8210.1C and other governmental requirements
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Goals
  • Measure, drive and report cost reductions with quality vendors through strategic agreements and relationships. Goal is to see continuous cost improvements measured by quarter across all purchases.
  • Measure, positively influence and report the parts procurement warranty and rejection rates. Goal should be 98% acceptance at first inspection and 2% warranty returns.
  • Measure, drive and report the AOG parts order delivery time from notice to delivery. Goal should be 24 hours or less for domestic parts and 72 hours for international parts from order to the delivery to technician.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Experience with FAA Part 145 and/or 135 requirements for material administration
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work well with all levels of management and staff.
  • Proficient with inventory reporting systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

Annual Training Requirements (Subject to Change):

  • AS & ISO requisite training
  • Blue Tuna FAA Part 145 Training
  • Aery Quality/Technical Training

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Certifications/Licenses):

  • Bachelor's degree in aviation management, logistics, project management or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • 10+ plus years of experience in aviation procurement.
  • Five years of experience of preferred experience in Lear and Gulfstream jets.
